Stainless steel finish

Can anyone tell me what is the best way to get a stainless steel finish on resin or plastic that looks believable and is able to be handled. I used the buffable Model Makers stainless steel paint which looks awesome until you spray a sealer on it. Then the finish is very dull and does not look real. But, without the sealer you cant handle it without getting silver all over your hands. Any suggestions?
