Question on proving up the "screen-used" ness of props and costumes

Hi all

Besides hunting through screen shots of DVDs and Blu-Rays (or screen-grabs and print outs from them) have others ever used the following to authenticate something from a production as screen-used?

Black & white stills from press kits?
Enlargements from color 35mm slides from press kits?
Images from movie posters (or if the production is an older one) lobby cards, souvenir programs, and press books / ad slicks?

Also can continuity photos themselves (especially continuity photos with the actors in the costume which is what I see 99/100 times when I come across a costume continuity photo, not so necessarily for prop and FX continuity photos) serve as convincing evidence of screen-used? Or do continuity photos also have to be authenticated separately?

Looking forward to hearing others's thoughts and opinions.
