New alternative for Solo Blaster

you know you can just pull it off with a pair of pliers, right? I think i popped mine off within the first 30 seconds of opening the box lol.

Rather than start a new thread, I'll ask/ post this here. If I should make a new thread, I'll delete this and do so.

In looking for a budget DL-44, I have run across a couple cheap airsoft Mauser C-96. I ended up buying one last year for $8, and soon discovered that the size and weight were surprisingly good for my hand. There were some steel weights in the magazine and in the frame itself to give it an accurate feel. Sadly, the plastic frame would not be able to support a scope mount, so it became a custom blaster inspired by the DL-44.

Recently, I found yet another cheap airsoft Mauser C-96, this time the frame is a zinc alloy, which I should be able to drill and tap threads for the scope mount, and have it be stable enough. And this one is a whopping $15.

Here is the eBay link for the one I'm looking at:
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/231660346981

At that price, I have no problem being a guinea pig for a budget build, as most my builds are. Before I pull the virtual trigger, has anyone used one of these for a DL-44 budget build?

The one you linked to is actually quite a bit smaller than the plastic airsoft.

Plastic airsoft on top, zinc alloy airsoft on bottom.

I modified the elevation knob on the scope. I sanded it thinner on my belt sander and filed the mount to match. I then re-made the detent notches.

Then I cut the groove and lightly sanded the knurling to take off some of the sharp edges and make it appear worn. The mount looked too thick to me, so I sanded a bit off. It turns out the scope diameter is the same as a 10 Gauge shotgun shell, so I wrapped some sandpaper around a shell.

I had to make a shorter stop pin.

I filed down the cross-hair bolt to fit the mount.

I blacked it out with a sharpie and weathered it a bit. I'm not totally happy with this and I think I'll paint and weather it again.

I'm pretty satisfied with the end result.

Next is to do something about those plastic grips.

Nice work!! Does that scope wheel come off easily. Just unscrew it or is there a trick?

Sorry for the bare link with no explanation (I was in a rush yesterday).
You're right , go to the front page but check the " new products" tab : they offer a WE 712 with mauser markings. Could be great for a ANH DL-440034_1.png0035_1.png

Hey John, great job on your conversion. I'm still mulling over if I should do the same, lol but kinda leaning for the TFA...
