That would be helpful. I'm not really sure what you mean by the "horizontal scope mount". I have watched a few videos of people assembling it. Kind of funny that a lot of them put the flash hider on upside down.

Sure. Some people have complained about their scope mount being jammed on the horizontal bar that mounts to the guns frame. This is the part with the dovetail mount that the scope mount slides onto. It can only slid on from one side as the shape of the dove mount tapers. How you mount the horizontal bar to the frame will determine which side your scope will slide on from over the dovetail.

This is the dovetail mount. Its thicker on right end than the left.

Slide on to this point and secure with the thumb screw.

If you slide it on too far it will jam. If you find these pieces jammed like this when your gun arrives, knock them apart with plastic screw driver handles or rubber hammer.

Thanks for that Robiwan! Very helpful. Everything I had seen so far already had that part assembled.

I haven't purchased this blaster just yet but having a 1:1 DL-44 in ur hand is quite addictive indeed. Careful as the addiction grows and there are many more models of this awesome replica available.

Congrats Billy Ray! Now, replace that too small front grill with one of these from Shapeways.

I helped design them for AW owners. There is also an TFA grill as well.

Thanks robiwan, I plan on doing just that. And thanks again for your tips on the scope mount. It did come assembled, but I had to take it apart to mount it properly. When I loosened the center thumb screw, it just slid right off by itself. Thanks to you I knew it only slid back on one way.

I've seen some people mention the orange tip on the barrel interfering with the flash hider fitting properly. Not sure if they fixed this or not, but mine slid all the way on with no problem. I still pulled the orange tip off because it was visible through the flash hider.

I have one question about this blaster though. On the back of the grip, right below the safety, there is a little slider type thing. Anyone have any idea what this is? Is it the "hop up" mechanism? It doesn't seem to do anything that I can tell. I don't have any experience with anything other than spring fired airsoft guns and I haven't actually fired this one yet.

That little lever assists in stripping the gun down and removing the bolt.

Are there any accurate STLs out there? I'd love to get one of these, and I have a Makerbot and a Form Labs, so I'd like to print it myself.

I went the Hong Kong route and it just arrived in time for Force Friday. WOOT!
I love it, heavy in the hand and just looks cool.

The screw mounts for the scope were a bit wonky on the threading but they finally went on with some incentive from a wrench.

Thinking of weathering. There are some stellar examples on this thread but I'm a bit leery of scratching and scrubbing and painting it for fear of not getting natural looking results.
Lots of study and contemplation ahead.

Just take a note from Adam savage. Weathering is random. Sand in many directions, even when recreating the screen used weathering. Once you get started, there should be nothing to fear because weathering is the opposite of perfection.

Check out my thread on the AW DL-44. I cover the mods I made to mine as well as sanding and blackening some of the parts as well as replacing the grill.
