Ghostbusters Holtzmann Cosplay for Males

I'm sure I'm in small company on this but I wanted to cosplay as Jillian Holtzmann for Halloween this year (after a few decades as a classic GB) if only to example to my daughter that a male can have a female screen hero and dress like them. It's easy enough to do the new jumpsuits via Rubies or various custom sources and I have a line on a pretty stellar reboot pack replica. But I was actually looking to emulate Holtzmann's pre-GB garb -- be it the coveralls and duffle or the biker jacket with cropped pants, etc.

I'm just a total noob when it comes to how to find these things and though I'll likely be hunting alone I figured if anyone else was looking I might start the thread in case others wanted to compare findings.

This deeply comprehensive list on the character's style (with many helpful links) was incredibly helpful, though nearly all the items linked to were for female fits only, and I'm too big at a chest size of 42 and a hip size of 38.

Her Necklace is all over Etsy and Redbubble but a cheap official is coming to EntertainmentEarth and others who carry Rubies

There are various options for goggles/glasses though the prime cut right now seems to be this pair by O'Riginals (but they won't ship until Nov)

There's a rubies wig that is mostly sold out at any sites I visited - it doesn't look that good anyway, was hoping I might find some suggestions.

If anyone is a thrifty fashionista who can translate to male fits, I'd love to know. My thanks! ghostbusters-kate-mckinnon.jpg

Well, you've goth three months until Halloween: you could grow your hair out and then have it bleached.

Aside from that, I'd recommend the usual things: start regularly checking out the used clothing stores / thrift shops / consignment shops / yard sales / garage sales for similarly-styled clothing.

I'm a female working on a Holtzmann Ghstbusters suit. I have 3 different glasses/goggles on order, including the Spectre ones. I'm in a lot of different forums and groups with people trying to identify her outfits so I forget where I've seen all of this lol.

Here's what I've come up with:

Goggles: http://www.ebay.com/itm/25205001104...49&var=550907693262&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Glasses from last part of the film: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-AO-Eyeg...427833?hash=item1c6b3fcdb9:g:JRcAAOSw0HVWDYLH

Brown finger-less gloves: https://www.amazon.com/Riparo-Motor...g_8?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=YRDBM707WREKXNM4E9XX

There is another thread started by a guy here too but no one's posted in a while: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=264054
Someone came up with an option for the biker jacket: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=264054&p=4032669&viewfull=1#post4032669

I also have the Rubies necklace on order as a back-up but I'm hoping to find something more substantial!

Kitty, thank you so much!!! I've shared this thread with some friends and a few of the more positive GB forums so maybe we'll both get some additional insights. Appreciate those links, I'll share anything I learn as well. Mike, if I could grow more hair believe me I would have. But that ship sailed a few years back so the wig's the way to go. ;)

This is awesome! :D

You definitely want a lace front wig, since it will provide a much more natural hairline when it's pulled back (I'm assuming you're doing her hairstyle from the movie too?). Here are a couple of options with darker roots:

Those wigs are able to be heat-styled (e.g. with a hair dryer) so you can curl/style them how you want. And then probably bobby pin them and hairspray them to death, lol.

Thank you! Am definitely doing the wig, will take you up on those links and also will check in with a local wig store that might help me customize a bit...

Found these after having posted at a reboot replica group on Facebook and in some of the other friendly GB forums.

Holtzmann's backpack from the firehouse scene is a Jansport "Hairball" - snagged on on google for $40 but Amazon and Ebay already have it jacked up to $100 or more!!! I'm gonna wear mine slung over the black leather jacket.

If anyone goes with the jumpsuit, NAMETAGS avail cheap and as pretty spot on replicas here. Custom names are avail! The builder is called 8BitSpock and sells from both the UK and US Etsy sites.

Affordable GLASSES particularly resembling the 4th pair seen in the movie, the 'battle in times square' version.

DIY guide to Holtzmann's necklace for those who want a simple way to do it...

Silver Pleather fabric being used for the duffel bag - one user on FB simply cut 4 equal rectangular shapes and 2 squares, stitched them with a zipper and a shoulder strap, etc...

I will have access to a GB Reboot uniform and pack but I think for my costume I'll be going with Holtzmann "formal," wearing a grey vest with a purple striped top and a paisley beige scarf tied as a tie, with the Screw You necklace and a vintage leather biker jacket I found on Ebay that thankfully seems to be an exact match and was in my size.

I'll have a Jansport over my shoulder, oxford shoes, mismatched motorcycle gloves, a set of the glasses linked above and some full goggles.

Still need to custom the wig, find collared pants and mismatched socks, and possibly coveralls as a backup.

Though it's not screen accurate I might wear a reboot pack over the leather, we'll see.

Please post your finds and I'll continue to post mine!!!

Yay! I hope you're still working on this, because just coming across this thread made my night :) I am starting to build a GB 2016 costume and was starting to feel kinda crappy about it after reading some other negative threads. Thanks for cheering me up!

I'm going to rework this pattern to make my jumpsuit. I'm sure I could buy something similar enough, but I'm a sewer so it's what I do!

I think this pattern is meant to be sort of Fallout inspired. I'll probably be able to use it for a lot of costumes. Can't wait to see your final outfit! Cheers :)
