Battle starship

I think you are right. I can see that possibility as well. Could be two toy guns with the handles cut off and glued together. I love that aspect of scratch building where a common object becomes something else entirely in a new context.

If you read his posts he tells you what he uses, he has a very imaginative mind

Good morning and thanks for the comment, my friends.

Should be no problem.

I hope it will help you.

Hagoth-san Bengrim-san.

I got go to my mother's house by now.
It's the biggest National event in summer Japan.
'Obon'
Once in a year, our ancestors spirit came home from 'That World' to say hello.
Visit their grave yard and dedicate some flowers and make ready to welcome them.
And thank them what they did to us.

I will carry my tablet PC.
Any question will be welcomed.

:D That is soooo cool! Thank you Katsu-San! These pictures are great!

What is the overall length of the craft? I'm guessing about 16" - 18"? I want to make it match for the decal set.

This will be so much fun. I have an idea for how to safely deploy the plasma bombs or turn that feature back into guns that won't blow the thrusters/intakes off. :cool

Enjoy your Obon day my friend. Give your ancestors my gratitude as well. You have a wonderful rich heritage.

wow Hagoth what a fantastic idea, to be able to build one of Katsu's models sounds just fantastic can't wait to see what the end result on this turns out like

Thanks, Hagoth-san.

I think its 16 inches long.
I get home tonight and get you an actual measurement.
I ordered 1/48 Hornet decal for this model.

And thanks for the kind words.
Katsu
have a great day to you and your family, I would also like to give thanks and gratitude to your ancestors

Now to find time. :p

Ha ha! I can accept that. :lol Actually the phrase is a statement of determination. Maybe a more appropriate emoji would have been -> :devil
Since I just added this to the priority list something has to give... mechanized 1:17 X-Wing going on hold... again. Hence...:p

Man I need to retire. Katsu is blessed.

I hear you on the retirement !! I'm only 49 can wait to retire, I'm busy building as we speak, weekends are a godsend especially when the wife is working ( no ear bashing over the mess and noise ) Katsu definitely has it easy !!! Bento boxes, katsu curry business, model building all day and a spot of house work !!! ahhh to be in katsu's shoes :lol

:D

OK, here is the measurement.

Length 18 inches
Wing span 15 inches
Height 10 inches

Well we had our Obon event done.

Happy weekend.

:cheers

:darnkids My motto.
Time is not the thing to find, it's the thing you make.

Hey! Retirement is wonderful!!
You can really enjoy it, I can tell.:lol

I say again, retirement is wonderful. That's for sure.:D

I'm having rather busy days. Everything started on 6 am.

1. 0600: Wake up and make the bed.
2. 0610: Get to the kitchen and start cooking a bento for my wife and daughter. (Of course, I wash my hands and face before I do that)
3. 0645: Clean the room and help her wash clothes.
4. 0700: Check the TV and have some breakfast.
5. 0745: Send off my wife with a smile. Salute!
6. 0800: Get to my work shack and start to build.
7: 1300: Have some lunch.
8. 1300: Post up some progress photos on the RPF.
7. 1400: Take a little nap or watch some movie or TV show on Netflix or Hulu or play any games.
8. 1600: Get to the supermarket and buy foods for dinner.
7. 1700: Start cooking the dinner.
8. 1830: Welcome my wife with a smile.
9. 1845: Serve her a glass of cold beer or cocktail with some snack and listen to her bitching about her office and colleague with a smile.
Accompany her jogging sometimes to secure her safety. (or secure safety of neighbours from her)
10. 1930: Serve dinner.
11. 2030: Put the dishes in the dishwasher.
12. 2100: Take a shower or bath.
13. 2200: Get to the bed and sleep like dead.

I say again, retirement is wonderful. :lol

I love the fighter. Very cool kitbash!

The new window frames also look perfect for the starship

Thank you very much, blakeh1-san.

Here are some updates.

I wanted to put a large radar dome on the nose.
So I made it

Using a 1 mm thick aluminum sheet. Heat it up and slowly cool it down.

3tQOlxA.jpg

This is the tool I used for this. I found this in my tool box. Maybe this was a part of a furniture or lighting device or something. There is a proper tool here in Japan we called 'Bouzu' but 'professional use' is very expensive.
'Bouzu' means Japanese monk. Also means a clean shaved head not a baled head.

I used a couple of vice to hold it.

Y5xqoh1.jpg

And hammering with a small hammer.

nLUuPgA.jpg

20 minutes of so, It's been done.

K2p6XMj.jpg

Sanded and polished a bit.

YOpNOyS.jpg

TBuSqUj.jpg

The diameter of a hemisphere depends on a size of Bouzu and aluminum plate.
The important thing is, don't use thin aluminum sheet. You should use at least 1 mm thick one..

CXdPi7T.jpg

Since I needed a certain tone of color, I used a liquid of metal finish.

Scribed some lines.

Great work on that dome. You got a smooth surface after forming it and then sanding.

I done similar stuff with bronze and brass, and that was a real chore, especially making sure you don wind up getting to thin in places

Man that ship is beautiful! Every post just raises the bar higher.

Thank you very much. I always appreciate your comment.

Thanks for the comment.
Bronze and brass must be a little difficult than aluminum.

Inspiring work, as always.

A very similar technique to your radar dome will make plate armor.

Thanks for the info, Tom-san.

This work will be a good experience when I build a mech or something on the next project.

Because I got tired of this part for a while, I tried to have some fun.

I drew some sketch and rough plan.
And then I used 0.3 mm sheet aluminum.
