Tiny pepakura pieces?

Alright fellow RPF'ers I'm having a hard time foldin and cutting tiny pieces for helmets that are in HD (i.e. The HD lich King I am currently having trouble with.) So what are your suggestions, tips, tricks etc. on getting them to fold right or having the flaps just small enough to not over lap the piece? Joining and disjoining pieces seems to make it more difficult and awkward cut lines in places that it should be solid. I'd love some help with this issue, thanks guys and gals!

You'll probably want to post a pic of what you're talking about. For some small parts you can just leave them out, and certainly any fine detail would get lost or sanded off anyway.
