Whelp........now my Falcon in progress feels very redundant.....
:-) Anyone up for a MPC Falcon?
Now I know what my X-mas prsent will be!
cheers
Uwe
Not yet, but who cares? This is a 1/72 Bandai Falcon, and that's the only thing that matters..!![]()
Seriously, afaik this is just a "study model" for an exhibition. There are no prices yet. I could imagine it to be twice the price of the small one. Scalpers surely will freak out once they are aware of that kit. (If there will be a kit, that is.)
Hmm, teased an AT-AT Walker....Teased an Imperial Star Destroyer....Teased a 1/2 R2....Now they tease a 1/72 Falcon and a 1/2 BB8....I wont hold my breath.....
Must be nice to be able to print up a 1/48 X and Y to go along with.![]()
Okay, that underside landing gear box looks as if it simply slides up or something. I hope not. The last thing I would want is for the 32" landing gear boxes to be flush against the hull.
If they REALLY wanted to do this right, then those entire quadrants would be swapable.
I'd love to see some more pics,....especially of the sidewalls etc.....i'm sure any discrepancies on the cockpit tube could be easily fixed....the whole shape & curves of the thing looks right....just like the 1/144.....hope they put this into production
It looks like they are,....those lines/seams are right where the forward boxes would slot in

Great! Are the mandibles "toe'd" in? (ducks).![]()
Moonlight SY-3 over at Starship Modeller posted this:
Not to get too excited, since both the 1/72 Falcon and 1/2 BB-8 are listed as 参考出品 ("reference exhibit"), but yeah, that's cool! Don't forget all that other cool stuff we've seen displayed but not kitted yet were also all 参考出品 items. The big Star Destroyer, the 1/12 Vader's TIE, the AT-AT, and the 1/4 R2...all 参考出品. None on the shelves yet.
Still, we can dream, can't we??

Yeah this isn't an official release yet. It's only an exhibition display piece. I'd love to see it as a kit someday, but there is no guarantee
This is not funny Bandai. Teasing us with display pieces and not making them kits or leave us guessing if they will be kits.![]()
SOLD - only seeing 1 sidewall 1/2 decently. Even if the sidewalls are not 100% accurate I'm sure Tony will hook me up if needed.
And I think I need about 1000 of those DS tiles to do my basement
Also if they are doing this one - how long do you think it will be until they put out a TFA "upgrade" package with the TFA sidewalls and Dish... seems like a no-brainer.

I agree. If the 3-gear configuration ends up looking like this prototype -- with the imprint of the ESB gear boxes visible and the hull plating all wonky -- then it's a big sacrifice in accuracy for the option of adaptability. I don't see how they can offer a 3 or 5-gear option without making both front hull quadrants as separate pieces.
The 5 footer was retrofitted with landing gear boxes for TESB (and reused for ROTJ). I don't see why that same retrofit cannot be made for a 1/72 model of the same subject that would be 100% accurate? What are we discussing here? Sure if they made the gear boxes as the 32" it would look dumb... but why couldn't they make them as the 5 footer just as easily? I'm confused what we're discussing here?

That's whats making me think this has more of a chance of gettig a release,....by seeing that ANH & the seam for the ESB gear box.....thats a bit more forward thinking than just a display piece

Never-mind I went and looked closer at the pics - I see what you're getting at. My guess at this point is this is just the prototype... Those hull sections need to be consistent with the rest of the hull plating
My guess is that this is a prototype and somebody goofed and this was the quick repair. I think they'll fix it - they'd be Crazy not to.
