Bandai 1/72 PG Millennium Falcon (also the Revell Germany rebox)

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

Hey, John, Astro, I've got a small bottle of the DOA 5-footer paint. Tried comparing with the AS-20 below. I feel it's a bit darker than AS-20 and warmer? They say it`s color-matched to the 5-footer but I've never seen the real model in person so I couldn't really say how accurate it is. And if the 5-foot prop is an off-white color, then the DOA shade might be a bit too dark?

Wow. That's WAY different. The as-20 looks way better imho.

It's tricky because although I really liked how mine turned out, I used a lot of spatter to get there. And I don't think that the five footer used spatter in the same way that the ESB falcon did. So the base coat may very well be closer to the final product.

I think I will definitely stick with Tamiya on this.

Wow,....that is very dark, I know the 32" is a lot darker than the 5 footer, Floquil Reefer White for the 5 footer & Floquil Grime for the 32"
Guy Cowan has matched his colours to the Floquil range, but his grime doesn't look as tan as the DOA one,.....the DOA looks more like the colour of the DeAgo plastic???

Heres some pics of Guy Cowan's repaint of the Master Replicas 32" model......just to give us an idea how accurate his paints are to the original models

I'll post some more pics of John Simmons Bandai soon also, so that we can compare the different base coats & the red used also

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

Interesting. Is it the paint job, or does the MR model have crisper moulding than the DeAgostini?

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

That repaint is insane. I think Guy is easily one of the best model painters in the world right now.

That's a bold statement. The world is a big place and much bigger than this community. There are many talented model painters that have never posted 1 photo online. However, no doubt he does beautiful work.

Well, he did just say "one of the best". Best could be a sizeable category...

Yeah, one of the best, not THE best, haha. I meant it in a positive way, not to belittle anyone else's efforts. Obviously I'm aware there's amazing talent out there that doesn't get posted here or anywhere else.

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

I'm excited for you guys. I've had this kit for two weeks now and it's simply amazing. You get what you pay for.

Good Lord guys, Gundam store just sent me an email that said my order was shipped! I'm so excited that I can't concentrate at work. I need to take the rest of the day off! LOL
