Bandai 1/72 PG Millennium Falcon (also the Revell Germany rebox)

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

REQUEST-

Dont know if this should be requested here or in a new thread but i was wondering if you guys could post up pics of your PG Falcons with two or three variant lighting sources?

For example, one pic under fluorescent lights, one under warm bulb lights, one under natural daylight.

I think it may be good reference for color quality control for future builds...and because Im
contemplating building another PG falcon down the road. Lol

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

drives mine nuts too...2 years ago after I started building again after like 10 or 12 years (she entered the picture like 5 years ago) she thought it was cute that I was doing it, NOW...annoys the crap out of her. She thinks it's affecting the marriage. Yet, if I spent the evening time with her watching the tube, she's on the Ipad playing solitaire...what to do...Heck, I'm in the same room for cryin out loud :confused
Just realized I was wrong about the placement of the "Mary Lind" signature, so I can add that after all. I'm going to see if I can print the names fine enough on some decal film through a laser printer. It would be nice not to have to fake it with little blobs of paint, but it might come down to that since they're so so tiny. I also need to get some tiny screws for the places on the model where the screws are visible.

These are those little "I'll know it's there" things that makes my wife seriously contemplate divorce. :p

Not at all, I think it's better to have as much input from everyone on one thread, makes it easier to find, for us, and those who will join in later. JMO

My wife used to complain about my modeling and my stash of kits. After a while it finally sunk into her head that modeling kept me home, quiet, and away from booze and other women :)

She still has hang-ups about me hunting however ;)

Ha....me too....we've been separated for 7 years.....I couldn't be happier

J

I packed up my stuff, moved out completley over the course of a day, and moved 250 miles away to Orlando.
The minute she heard i was moving to Orlando she wanted to “work things out”.
The moment they start complaining about what you do in your personal time its usually a good indication theyre looking for something better.

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

Exactly!! I work early hours, home several hours before she is, I can't recall a day she's come home from work that she didn't find me at the table working on something...AND, I regulate it. We usually turn in about 9pm and I most times knock off the modeling about 7pm. I'm home, not out with my friends, not in the bars, not chasing tail...though I have to admit I miss the days I had my house to myself and did what I wanted, when I wanted...

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

I certainly don't mean to perpetuate the ranting about the wives as this is NOT why we're here, and mine is actually a decent gal, but it seems some of us have had the same problem at some point. For myself, I should have never let her move in, and I should have NEVER put a ring on it. As I recall, things were much better BEFORE the afore mentioned events. I'll shut up about it now :lol

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

For the record, my wife is aces and I was kidding. She supports my modeling -- way more, in fact, than most of my male friends who give me crap about making spaceships and wearing Star Wars t-shirts (ignoring the irony of their sports memorabilia and team jerseys). She happily agreed to let me have a dedicated room for my man cave (and she makes double my annual income -- she's wicked smart), regularly gets me kits for birthdays and Christmas, and when I told her about the cost of a PG Falcon she didn't hesitate to say, "You need to order that." Does she think I'm weird and more than a little obsessive? Oh yeah. Does she even remotely share my interest in models? Nope. But she's happy than I'm happy and as long as my modeling doesn't distract negatively from her and the kids she's glad I'm doing it.

It's true that I married way UP.

As for the Star Wars drawer... guilty. Maybe it's a sign I'm getting old, but about a year ago I told my wife, "I should probably start buying more shirts that don't have lettering and logos." :lol

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

I know I said I was going to shut up on this, but...I'm on the other end of the house hold income, was quite self sufficient on my own...my wife has this idea that she's better and different that any of her predecessors. Though she is a good one, to a degree, she's under a false impression. Where as I, according to her, am the greatest thing since sliced bread...until she doesn't get her way. It's beginning to wear on me. Ok, now I'll try to shut up, again. :lol

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

Jeez, i never realized just how awful my Falcon looks when taking photos with the camera flash.
Uggh

Nothing looks good under flash that close up. How does it look in sunlight? That's what matters. You other pics are all awesome.

Yeah, I hate using the flash

I generally prefer to take my pics outdoors in the daytime, or at least by a window. I find cloudy overcast days to sometimes be the best for capturing the right colors

I remember one time i almost got in a fight with a guy at disney world who had his camcorder with the flash running during the Peter Pan dark ride.
The light washed away all the theatrical lighting and made the ride look like a warehouse.

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

Hey, guys. Don't know if this is old news but I just noticed another YT-1300 making an appearance in ROTS just moments before the Millennium Falcon makes a cameo.
Take a look at 14:45 to 14:55 in this video https://youtu.be/dbFu0UNuf9Q?t=14m45s .
You'll see the object leaving the docking complex moving to the right casting a distinctive circular shadow with mandibles and outboard cockpit. The object itself is a little too blurry to make out but to my eye its definitely another Corellian freighter.

anyway, thought that was cool.
