It's really interesting how he confesses his discomfort with snap-fit assembly and shows how to de-snap-fit the kit, together with many addition of omitted details, right on Bandai's website.

I wish they could have put this up before I assembled the kit.

How did you guys derive anything from that article? The English is translated so poorly I've read it 3 times and still can't understand anything.

The internet is international so I suppose there are members like me who read Japanese.

Bandai has been publishing English versions of their web articles about this kit which were originally Japanese, so I think it is probable that they shall do the same with Takahashi's building guide in the near future.

One thing of particular interest may be is that Takahashi refers to the gaps between the saucer and the right/left mandibles (#001 40A and 41A), and states that the kit is so designed to faithfully represent the uneven gaps as well as the slightly misaligned height of the mandibles, which are noticeable in the filming miniature.

How do you get the english translation of the building guide?, when i click on the language tab to change to english, it takes you a different version of the site with no links to the building guides,

Select Japanese on the left and English on the right then copy the URL into the left box. Click the link in the right box after it appears.

Any word on cockpit lighting enchantments yet from paragraphix or the like?

repeated... any new extras to be had... and do you all think that the paragrafix etched cockpit can be used in the Bandai kit??

Thanks for the link! Very interesting tips.
I used my pin vise set to drill out some of the holes he showed. I don't think anyone else who looks at the model will know the difference, but I know they're there. :D

Re: Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon

Quick opinion question -

Are you guys preferring to use the photo etched grill band that wraps around the cockpit area or are you guys using the molded parts?

I was looking at the molded parts and they dont look too bad.
I noticed the photo etched band also requires glue...im kind of iffy on using glue on this.

Any advantages of using the photo etch over the molded ?
