I have an excellent off from a member for his box lid, that will work nicely for my display, BUT isn't the correct box lid for this current version.

While I will happily use that version if I can't nail down the proper lid, I'd like to see if I can find the the current one...

so just putting it out there... if you're the type that tosses the packaging, I'll happily take yours and pay for shipping it to me!

HCG and Moviefreak have their eyes open, but figured I'd try and up my chances.

Unwrapped her and this is where things start to go downhill.

Ok, first up, I don't know about you guys, but when I bought the new "blued" version I was expecting just that, a BLUE receiver. However, this appears to be black. Now I know this was more my ignorance as to what a "blued" receiver would actually look like in person, but to me this just looks like a semi-gloss finish, rather than the mat finish of the Retail Pro. Perhaps I set my expectation wrong after seeing this piece of art - the Tomenosuke Toku Edition (Nexus7 pic cred)...

I know lighting, etc, plays a big part but they certainly don't compare...

Perhaps this new version can be easily made more blue with a bluing kit and some polishing. No doubt some of you will have lots to say on this.

Ok, so the blue thing is subjective and definitely more my unreal expectations than an actual fault with the prop. The following however is where my real disappointment lies.

The mag housing on mine looks worn, with stacks of what appear to be stress fractures or scratches at best. It actually looks like a second hand part...

Next up, big smudge marks on the receiver. Yes, I've given it a good wipe and no they didn't come off. As they appear on both sides of the receiver right around the screw holes I tend to think it might be screw lock glue residue?

This may come off with turps or something, but I'm pretty reluctant to take to it with a chemical. Unless it's blueing liquid. Lol

Finally the cylinder cover appears to lost some of it's clear coat...

The big white spot is the light reflection of course, but you can easily see where the clear coat has failed.

So, while everything works as it should (trigger, cylinder, I haven't actually tested the lights yet), the finish it incredibly disappointing. To be honest this looks like it's been put together with a bunch of "seconds" parts.

I am a huge Tomeno and HCG fan and those who know me on here know I'm not one to complain for no reason. No doubt this is isolated to the one I have received as others don't seem to have experienced these issues. Also, I am yet to contact HCG about these issues and was at two minds about posting this review until I had spoke with them. But I figure you'd guys would want to know and maybe some have some ideas how to rectify these issues.

Yeah appears to be a one-off. Most others guys on here seem very happy with theirs. Also my previous Tomeno's from HCG have been flawless.

Regarding a resolution, as mentioned I have been promised replacement parts, although HCG are unsure how long they will take to arrive from Japan. Especially as the run is now sold out I guess. But I have confidence they will sort it as soon as they are able.

So the replacement parts arrived...

Well most of them. They included another bolt which I didn't need, but excluded a replacement mag housing which I did need.

The interesting thing is the finish on the replacement receiver, it's completely different to what came with the blaster...

Way shinier and ironically what I originally expected the new "blued" version to look like. So that's a bonus. Although the replacement rear piece is the same finish as the one on my blaster, so it doesn't match the shiny receiver...

So I swapped the receivers over. BTW, who also thinks this thing actually looks pretty killa without the steyr...

New receiver installed...

And of course I now have a spare receiver to play around with. Might try bluing it some more or something.

I'd love to hear from those who received their blasters as to what finish your receivers are. The glossy finish or the duller finish?

Yeah I think so. I have to admit when I first saw the blaster (with the duller receiver) I was pretty gutted. I'd seen those pics of the custom blued finish some lucky members here acquired and I kinda thought these would be closer to that. So the dull receiver was a disappointment. But this glossy one is way closer to what I'd expected. [emoji106][emoji106]

Experiment on the spare receiver, and then get the rear cap & bolt handle glossy AF!

Well, the original prop wasn't very glossy. In fact, the more I handle mine and the bluing wears off, the more it looks like it did in the Worldcon pictures.
