Doctor Strange costume (Benedict Cumberbatch version) question

Super update. I made my cape! I had a charity event to go to today and I wanted to finish as much as I could. Sadly, that required me staying up the entire night. So, I'm going to go take a nap after this. I've been up for 27 hours straight now. o_O

-You can basically turn 1 of the pics into a template if you're too impatient for me to do it. ;)

I made a gigantic stamp with craft foam, tried using embossing ink (couldn't see where I hit it) so I used watery Puff Paint, then smothered it in embossing powder. I wish I had a finer faux suede so the embossing powder had better coverage. I still have to add the "bird" details that are supposed to be embroidered. I'm also waiting on my Brooches from Shapeways.

My collar is also way too tall.

I used 2 yards of red twill fabric, 2 yards of the fabric print (I had to scrap together the left over bits to finish covering missing sections), I think I used 25~ feet of Wine Brush Fringe that was 1" wide. I cut it down to about 1/2" wide though. I think the cape ended up costing me $150 and took about 12 hours to make. Quite nearly non-stop. And I'm not trying to brag, but I can sew crazy fast and accurate. I thought this would take me 4 hours TOPS. lol?

Right now, I have 20lb force magnets holding the cape. But they kinda sucked so... I'm literally going to have to make a harness or counter weight because the cape kept falling, and sliding, and slipping, all day long. I think the cape weighs about 8lbs.

I picked up the Art of Doctor Strange book the other day and on top of some fascinating concept art, it has a pretty clear picture of the rear of the Eye of Agamotto. It's the only one I've ever seen. And while not entirely final designs, there are tons of good art pieces of other props, including all of the different sling rings.

I'll need to hit a Barns and Noble then so I can make the back of my Eye of Agamotto better than electronics covered with felt.

Does it have clear details on the Book of Agamotto / book of Vishanti or whatever the ancient books were? I'm dying to make a replica book.

Got it, read it. If you're into concept art, it is awesome! There is a ton of beautiful artwork inside that shows how much thinking and design went into the film.

However, if you want it for props. Forget about it. It has (all sides) of 1 book. Small pictures of the full Eye of Agamotto. The only large picture is a 3d model concept and not the used version (disappointed).

It also has concepts of Black Knight's Ebony Blade. About 10~ versions. So you can't go for "screen accuracy" here. Same with a couple really awesome daggers, and the Wand of Watoomb. It looks like they merged 2 Wand of Watoomb concepts to make the finished one. So, even then, it's a moot point. But like I said, just concepts and not the finished version. :(

AWESOME concepts. But that's all they are until they're used on screen.

Oh, they also have the Eye of Agamotto stand. I'll be making that.

It doesn't look like I need to redesign my Eye of Ag at all. It is still, ridiculously accurate. I WILL change it to add the back though.

I was hoping it would have the gloves shown at the end of the film. But there are over 300 pages (I think) and only maybe 6 have props.

Greetings! My name is Mary and I will be starting a Doctor Strange costume from scratch. I love making screen-accurate costumes and props (I currently am sitting in my TARDIS ^-^) I can already tell this is going to be one hefty project and I can't wait to see it come together in the next few weeks/months.

I finally finished my Eye of Agamotto prop.

I used Black Ram Industries file that is available over on Pinshape and Thingiverse. Its a seriously great file to work with and love a lot of the detail in there. Was just talking with a lady I work with about making a cape! I seriously need to learn how to sew

My beard/mustache arrived today from Etsy seller WesthusArt. This was hand tied on theatrical lace to my measurements. I am delighted with the fit, color, reasonable price and two-week turnaround time (from Estonia!) If you need beautiful, well-made lace hair goods for this (or any other) cosplay, feel confident in this seller.

I haven't seen much of the belts on this thread... (maybe I just missed a page) could y'all post some pictures or resource links to the belts you've used? I know the one attached to the ring is a woven material and before I cave and just weave it myself I want to check and see if anyone has found a good material that has already been made! I'm also looking for the two other leather ones.

(EDIT) Here's an example of the woven belt's design as compared to my reference photo:

I know this is the weave because it explains the two colors of the cords wrapped around the ring, plus the terminal ends that are fishtailed and tied off are very thick due to the many MANY sections of cording.

(UPDATE)

I've figured out the weave for both of the other leather belts. I'll get my hands on some leather strips tomorrow and try to show y'all how the belts would be made by hand.

I made the back of the Eye. It will fit the back of the current Eye of Agamotto that is on the Google Drive. If you want the back too (for personal use only) I'll give you the link when it's up.

Hello! I'm new here (like, brand new) and am currently building a Doctor Strange cosplay myself. I was wondering where people are finding the checkered fabric for the inside of the cloak?
Also, I do have a 3D printer and will be using it quite a lot. If anyone has some good files for this, please let me know or send me the links!
Thanks! Sorry if I am not up to speed on some stuff :/
