Han In Carbonite in Canada - Build thread

Re: Han In Carbonite in Canada - Build and Research thread

That's a lot of green dust!!! First 2 coats of primer to check how I was doing! Not bad. Will sand it down with high grit and bondo on the rest of the block. Will be dried in about 30 minutes so back to sanding some more!

Here's the tools I'm using on this build!

I also painted the rest of my panels, including my Hero panel. Later tonight of tomorrow, I'll be able to install my electronics!!!

Not sure I'm following... the MAPA gold is the green filler?

Yep! Best filler to use! Back when I was working on my Ironman suit, I called the Evercoat rep to know where I could find their product .. He told me this MAPA product actually had their filler inside! :)

Bronica in pieces! Trying to figure out the best way to cast things without undercut!

Work on panel 1 has begun. I still miss those LEDs mounting covers!!!

That switch needed a socket to sit in and I didn't trust hot glue because the force to make it turn might be too strong .. Or maybe not?

Anyway, out the Apoxy Sculpt .. Sitting over the hole, pushed the switch in, then removed and let it dry until tomorrow! It might just work!

Re: Han In Carbonite in Canada - Build and Research thread

Just received my LED mounting cover .. they're wayyy too big .. don't know how I missed that in the datasheets. In any case, I removed them from my post above to prevent people from ordering them and wasting 50$ like I just did.

I will try the ones I liked less but now that I look at them, are right on size-wize .. really stupid delay on my part!!

My frame is now ready for final color! It was time to install Han. Glued from under, screwed around and caulked.

I have between 3/16" and 1/4" to fill so I quickly tried the glue trick in one corner to see what it looked like .. I will finish with putty for sure though!

I am still looking for pics of the original feet if anyone has a good cast. Mine are horrible!!! Anyone?

Re: Han In Carbonite in Canada - Build and Research thread

That is looking great! When I got my cast from Kingjawa, the feet were cast in some kind of translucent, dark gray resin. Unfortunately, I didn't take any decent photos of them during my build.

Re: Han In Carbonite in Canada - Build and Research thread

Here is a 4 minutes carbonite test .. Seriously, literally! Slush cast 65D resin I had around ..

How large are those pieces? They remind me of the round bits on the bottom front middle section of the Falcon.

Knobs received! Waiting on leds, handles and casting more panels in the meantime!

Re: Han In Carbonite in Canada - Build and Research thread

It's a good morning! Just bought a Waist Finder on Ebay. Don't know why nobody snatched it at 69$!!! Will drop this in rubber along with the other original vintage parts I have and offer them along with my panels.

Looks like I'm gonna have to redo a panel mold after all! :)

Waist finder? What is this piece?
