Painting a rubber gas mask?

I have a normal gas mask that I want to paint pink.

What is the best way? Will acrylic adhere to the rubber, and will it chip off?

I heard some people paint with colored latex. I was wondering if the latex would peel off in patches? Like if you kept the mask in a bag after painting (to transport it) and then pulled it out of the bag. Would the latex coating come off?

tough one... maybe a base coat of plastidip would allow the paint to stick... probably wouldn't hold up to a lot of wear and tear, and it would leave a texture, but with proper prepping of the gasmask first, it would probably last longer than just painting it...

but this is all speculation...

scruff up the surface a bit. Prime with spray adhesive and then mist on a thin coat of whatever paint when the adhesive is tacky. The trick here is control.
