Jimmiroquai commissioned me to make him one of those new fandangled blasters some time back and have completed it only recently. For the sake of economy it's fairly low tech and made mostly of EVA foam (the white stuff) with a plywood core frame and PVC barrel/receiver.
Barrel/receiver and frame
Frame clad in a 3mm skin of EVA
Handguard
Building up the trigger guard and grip
Building up the receiver
Magwell and AN/PEQ doohickey detail
Scope tube is PVC build up with EVA datails
Front sight and more detailing (burned in with a soldering iron)
Rear sight, charging handle and end piece
I forgot to take pics of the putty stage which is basically covering seams and rough areas with acrylic sealant as well as sanding edges down. Below are the parts painted and disassembled (for future molding).
