The Force Awakens Millennium Falcon Projects

Sweat John, really like the new docking lines.
This little baby is indeed loveable, I to like her very much so guess I will put more time in her to:lol

Hi John, I wanted to start working on the cockpit frame and I couldn't figure out how you did it -- that was some incredible work. Did you just use a round file to thin it down?

Just a new scalpel blade CJ,....removing small shavings at a time,...dont dig in too deep or you'll snag the plastic,...there is no rush,....almost in visible wafers & you'll get there

A file would be too rough vibrating the window frames

Yup, It took like..... forever :facepalm

Patient you are J.

Working on it now as per doctor's prescription :) Thanks, John! Oh -- I looked over the cockpit tunnel details again for a second time to see if I've mustered up enough courage to cut it up and lower it like you guys seemed to do so effortlessly --- I just stared at it for the longest time -- and slipped it right back in the bag.

I finished the rest of the frame for the dish

I cut away the flat table like thing that goes through the middle of the stand,....this allowed me to finish cutting away the innards of the frame.....after that was all done I carved out the parts of the table that I'd removed to make it more like a frame

Interesting to see that the BIG blast hole on the docking ring is gone (on the full size set anyway)

hmmmm, interesting. Gun mounts come up from the "floor" of the turret now, instead of hanging down from the "ceiling" as in ANH and the cut scenes of ROTJ.

so that means that in the default position, the seat and gun orientation are as follows...

crazy. I'm mean it makes sense, but it's still crazy.

Woe,......cracker......

Well as I said earlier,...it would have made more sense if the guns came up rather than hang down,.....like the Joe Johnston drawings

It shows that someone is actually thinking of the logic,......really in the OT the ladder should have been on the roof of the tunnel......unless there was some rotating of the tunnel & gunner station as Han & Luke entered

Animation coming soon:............

J

OK heres a quick animation on how the OT ladder & gunner station COULD be explained,.....The default position for the gun turrets are facing forward,....when there needs to be gunners to man them,....Han calls them.....like a lift.....the ladders & turret rotate & offers the gunners the ladder.....when the gunners are in the ladder tube etc the mechanism rotates Ladder tube & Gunner station......

But now that the whole thing has been re-designed for the new film,...the ladders dont need to rotate independently from the gunner station

J

The more I think about that gunwell the more ridiculous it gets. Seriously. The sight lines are awful.

Just noticed the armour plating on the underside is now mirrored from the starboard to the portside,....so probably thats Bandai using the data given to them from the Digital asset......thats why that missing plate is evident on the portside rear

This is showing the turret rotating while the swinging seat is independent , great , as far as targeting , sight lines are not inportant as they have a targeting image in front of them.

But now it is more complicated, means the turret-top with the window and the gun ist rotating (backward gun position in the trailer), but the gunner-seat and so the inner housing is staying in the angle (bottom of the gunner always directed to the front of the Falcon) - because in Episode IV we see the gun-mounting top of Han/Luke, at the Finn-shot its in front of his feet) . The windows are not centered in the turret, so the whole inner housing with the ladder/tube has to move excentric back an forth, while turning the turret... if you know what i mean... :
