The V4b ESB Yoda.

It soon became apparent after reviewing the V4 in its completed state that it wasn't right... It needed to be or whats the point in investing all my time in this and the Luke Skywalker statue to follow shortly that will compliment this. So in a nutshell I altered the eyes nose mouth chin upper cranium and neck... Quite a lot but I'm sure you can see a big difference here ;)

Incase you're wondering why Not call this the V5.... Simple reason... its a mod albeit a significant mod of the V4 - complete resculpts get the new number. In the past I've done a V1 (Joint project with Cking) a V2 and the V2b (the one Gino gave some input into) the V3 and the V3b (the one Nick Maley owns at his museum)... then the V4 and the V4b.

Phil, I didn't want to say anything previously about your v4 version because I could not put my finger on it, perhaps the eyes were too bulging or baggy and something about the mouth didn't seem right, but I am VERY happy to see the improvements continue. Can't wait to see the final version.

As do I ... I like this version very much ... now all I need is the much needed gold pressed latinum to be able to afford one complete with robes, weathering and sofort ... hm :wacko

It appears that you are attempting to create a race of Force-Sensitive beings, under the guise of artistic creativity. Well, well, well, don't you think you're clever?

Kidding. Awesome job!

Some more angles...

To busy to do another one after this... I'm already getting thumb strews on other projects.

In all seriousness, aswell, I was VERY happy with the V3b but the scale was all wrong - it had that key ESB puppet look... However, I later got the accurate measurements off an original but went a bit to far towards the Freeborn plug version, as seen in the exhibition Yoda amongst others... which doesn't have some of the key features of the eventual Puppet version (one has to realise the skin, which was extremely soft foam latex, was pulled and stretched in all directions over the animatronic skull to get the look we all know and love)... So the V4 was pretty accurate but I had overlooked the screen grab pics in favour of the Freeborn plug version. Nick Maley paid me a visit, in May - we're working on some exhibition stuff together - and criticed my V4 Yoda in person and give me some new insights i.e. the features needed to be different and not going into details it was like turning a light on and seeing exactly what was needed. Nick was visiting for 3 days and you can't get better advise than from a guy who actually built the original puppets from Stuart Freeborns foam skins.

The boy has much patience. The new V4 is looking pretty darn good mate. I hate to say it but the more work you do the better you're getting. Not saying your other Yoda's aren't any good, but like a fine red wine you just keep getting better with age :D One of the finest mate to be made.

Any pics of the first pull(s)???

What about pictures of the other revised parts, such as teeth, hands, feet, body etc.
So keen on seing these :cool

Inspirational work Phil!!!
