Star Trek Nemesis 'Dolphin' phaser

Thanks. I managed to get a better picture which more accurately reflects the true colours.

Ok, so I'm guessing as a cast aluminium part I won't be able to get the emitter like a mirror and after removing residue that it's about as shiny as it's going to get.

I also decided to do one further coat/prime to make sure the fit between cowling and handle was flush.

I just saw this topic. I know this post is old but.....

Is the emitter cast resin with aluminum dust in it or is is actually cast metal. Any soft metal, even if it’s not aluminum.

If it is metal, you can polish it to reflective mirror quality. I’ve done to numerous lightsabers of mine.

Here is one example. This lightsaber is aluminum and had a “brushed metal” finish. I wanted it polished.

It took very little money, effort and skill (for a novice such as myself).

I think the emitter is cast resit with aluminium dust. I was able to get it a bit more shiny. I'll double check. If it is I might consider a chrome spray paint.

The emitter is cold cast aluminium - so I think could be polished a bit more.

I think the body colour looks darker since I added the lacquer. Still debating whether I should sand it back a bit and respray with a lighter colour.

On a side note, the button surround is now matt black. I also forgot to say that during the fitting for the power meter display, it snapped (as the hole had become too tight with the layers of paint). Thankfully, I've got a replacement on the way!

So the display meter came today (along with my Mark IX Tricorder kit). So I've fitted the display, glued all the bits in place - and now declare this project finished.

Next up, I'll be post a new thread on my progress on the tricorder. Hats off to both Stapleton and Gerry for great work on the kit and electronics.

Sorry bump a slightly old thread of mine, but I finally got myself a nice display for my phaser. It's an acrylic shoe display, which cost me just £1.07 ($1.43 USD). I'm made up with it as it's perfect for showing the phaser off - and looks a bit sci-fi too.
