Here's the STARBOARD AIRLOCK Blast l did... i used my Dremel drill then painted black the center, (before outer coil attachment) then used good old Tamiya weathering kit Soot Black....

TIP: Use the rubber end of my pencil technique to radiate the blast area...

I've lots of new ideas in progress including landing gear doors (plastic card scratch-build) for the main 3 legs attachments. (Back double two later).
Also I've researched high & low for reference to open landing doors etc & came up with a happy artistic medium...
Plus SHAPEWAYS reviews of certain parts later this year as well as other designers work when I do them.

Nice, (please link pictures to your own thread). I'll show better for next to nothing soon with black plastic cards of various widths ....plus interchangeable.

Looking forward to the new ideas Darkview, especially when they can be built from scratch for a decent price. I'm trying to be very selective with my "additional enhancement" purchases so big money is only spent on the key things.

Cheers, the main 3 landing gears are just about finished, took me about 15+ hours, just need to weather the doors l created so will show them in the next few days...just as well as my last few issues (inc bracket) I've been just told won't be with me till next week now! I was recently told I'd have them today latest. But lve loads to do so can wait I guess.

Hello, Thought id show you my 3 main front area legs with the added doors and pipe work. l used old guitar wiring like l did a way back on the hold and passage ways. Thanks to RIFF-RAFF Guitar shop for free near me in Sunderland. The doors are just Black plastic card glued then primed and dry-brushed. You'll see the inner fold doors that lve to paint then add (2nd/3rd picture center).
The doors themselves are interchangeable and clip out. Ive added artistic license to the making of them as there's not a great deal to reference from. I may half the doors heights.

Looking great Darkview ! I imagine the doors will give it more character and look more like the real thing.

I've also got my local guitar shop gathering old bass strings for the hold area :-) Great tip !

Is your Falcon in a state to be able to show the landing gear in place ? That would be awesome.

P.S My first pit is complete. Used your method and am very happy with the result !!

Great stuff, I'll be putting up more with the underside soon. Just had a look at your pit, excellent job, great finish.

Thanks, it's a bit of a repetitive task but worth it :-). I'll list what did & used if it's of interest

Yes that would be awesome when you get a chance. How did you make connection points and mount to the gear?

    Materials used...

Below: The picture on the right shows the mini bricks screwed n' glued into the landing pad from above...(i used micro screws and spares from the build) l just click the doors in once the panels are superglued dried.

Below: I'm showing the mini black bricks separate, they click in place... the long black blended parts are cable ties from Wilkos & the web.

I'm lucky enough to have had a few sheets l bought years back, great stuff to work with if you haven't.
Whites cheaper if preferred. Usually comes in 2 sheets A4ish in size. About 5 for all below...

JAVIS 20B BLACK PLASTIC BUILDING CARD APPROX 9" BY 12" - 2 SHEETS

JAVIS 30B BLACK PLASTIC BUILDING CARD APPROX 9" BY 12" - 2 SHEETS

Ive thick 40/50/60B too as it's very handy if you like scratch modelling.

This is the first time I have ever heard of Pixel Bricks. Great idea by the way.

What does 20b mean guys? These sheets are not available in the US. Can I ask to if you can measure the thickness for me? I looks like its maybe 1 or 2 mm? I can get other sheets here in the US.

20b/30b just refers to the thickness if I'm not mistaken.

    20B - Thickness: 0.02", 0.25mm.
    30B - Thickness: 0.03", 0.75mm.

You can try Evergreen Styrene sheets, that's what we got here in Oz.
