Fallout 4

iPod Touch. It's iPhone 5 size but since that phone is still everywhere I would imagine the multiple foam fitting would be able to suit that model. Last I checked, my iPod Touch runs all the phone based apps I got that don't involve cellular signals.

I think I'm going to go with the Ipod touch since it seems like less of a hassle and i can always use an ipod lol. even if it doesn't really work right i just want to have a neat display for inside the pipboy.

At the microsoft conference they also announced pc mods will work on the xbox version of the game. That's pretty huge

Unfortunately the mods on the Xbox will go through some form of regulation.

“Either your nudity or porn, that kind of stuff, or you’re taking assets from Halo"

The mention of Halo is a pretty big one because they're obviously talking about licensed material, which is also a huge area where Mods come into play. Since Halo and Fallout 4 will no doubt be running on different engines, I'm sure Todd was speaking of assets on an intellectual scale rather than actual in-game graphic assets. Also, while watching the Bethesda demo presentation for the second time, I caught something that I was surprised I didn't catch before hand. Incase you haven't caught it already, check out 5:17 and 6:48.

Recognize the newscaster? Here's a hint. His last entry that gets cut off can be heard in full in the first trailer.

It's nice to see they used him for more than just the opening and closing voice overs. I can't wait to look around that living room in first person for prop ideas. Sadly this makes me regret us throwing away so much vintage furniture and items over the years as we cleaned out houses for family members that died.

Well, the in game graphic assets can be "converted" to another engine.

Fallout 2 Enclave Power Armor?! Freaking win.

Screen Shot 2015-06-18 at 9.09.00 PM.png

Let's face it. When it comes to customizing weapons and armor, is anyone going to care one bit about stats? I don't care if the Enclave Power Armor is the weakest of the lot. This is the image I want my character to be seen as.

I like that armor, but didn't like in NV when it lowered your Charisma. I hope people also react to your equipment. That's my big pet peeve with RPGS I've played (Fallout and Skyrim mainly) is that NPCs don't react to your equipment. In Fallout if you're running around in T51B armor the Outcasts will call you a local and not someone armed up like they are. Well actually better than they are.

I saw the pipboy editions for the xbox one are up on amazon i didn't see any others but wasn't really paying attention.

I'm wondering how much better the quality of this one will be since it doesn't have a clock in it like the Fallout 3 one did. Electronics and deluxe game goodies just don't mix: pipboys don't work and the lava lamp in Metal Gear Rising didn't do squat lol

I just watched the E3 reveal and couldn't figure out why the voice of the Vault Tech salesman was so familiar until it struck me that it's the same guy who was Roy Campbell in the Metal Gear solid games and Grandpa Max on Ben 10 lol. I'm tempted to make the vault tech clipboard he has, i got plenty of plain tan clipboards.

I have to admit it's a neat touch that changes you make to them carry over to the baby even though I'm not sure long the poor kid is in the game. Want to bet "make the ugliest baby" is going to be an online challenge now? lol

I guess one thing I'm overly worried about is how much of this game has a set in stone storyline. Todd howard did say that player freedom remained Beth's #1 goal, but he made it pretty clear in his post-show interview that the 'freedom' aspect was more along the lines of where the player could go around the world and not so much character building. If you look at previous Bioware games and even the Elder Scrolls series, there's a huge difference between freedom of building your character and freedom of exploring the world around you.

An example in Fallout New Vegas. You are literally a blank sheet of a character who can choose to side with one of four factions for control over New Vegas. All sides have their own reasons for wanting New Vegas and all sides have their reasons why they shouldn't run New Vegas. There's even a choice for you to run New Vegas yourself and the kind of ruler you become depends on your behavior throughout the game. Even different choices have alternative choices within themselves! Fallout 3? You're just some guy's kid who has to turn on a machine or make someone else do it. The End. I'm hoping that Bethesda took a lot of notes from New Vegas in terms of developing your character and how that affects the story, rather than the point a to poing b

Probably the biggest indication of how little choice the player will have in developing their character is, well, the game's opening. You start out as a happily married person who just had their first child. That's set in stone. Compare that to the blank slate of New Vegas. Heck, Fallout 3's player character has more of a blank slate than this since you could still do things that wouldn't contradict your character's behavior. I mean, let's face it. Being made to play a straight couple is not my forte. After playing Skyrim, Dragon Age, Mass Effect and even Star Wars: The Old Republic, I love character romances. :) Skyrim had a pretty cute, if completely unrealistic romance system where a large number of NPCs can be romanced by any race and any gender. All you have to do is do a specific quest for them, show them an amulet, get married in a chapple, and boom! You now have a home companion who you can return home to after a hard day's work. Now while there are some moments in the Fallout franchise where you could flirt and to an extent romance a character (Fallout 2 having a shotgun wedding even), Fallout 4 seems less likely to have any of this since you start the game as a married straight person. For someone who always picks the female character and romances the girl whenever possible, I feel very saddened that my character's orientation will also be set in stone. Again, not a problem if you're trying to tell a fixed story with a character who does things the way the writer wants them to, but games like Fallout, Skyrim and pretty much anything BioWare has done has really set the standard in what it means to create the kind of character you want.

Yeah, I don't consider games like F3 a "role playing" game. It's more of a "player progression" type of game, to me.

New Vegas, yeah. More of a "choose your role" kinda game.

Still, the set in stone story of Fallout 3 was epic. Let's hope the same for number four.

Yeah Fallout's gotten away from it's hardcore RPG roots, there was actually a good bit of freedom in the older games too as you could choose sides and there wasn't a hugely set in stone storyline. You could also be much more evil but the rating system now says you cant' shoot kids in games anymore lol.

Actually, wasn't the first Fallout a "set in stone" story? Evil or good, you still have to defeat the Super Mutant Army, and kill the Master. Still comes to the same ending, just depends on how bad you were as to if you kill the overseerer.

I've taken the Elder Scrolls games as being more about the journey rather than the destination. Like you said, it's all the same ending, you can just get there via a different route if you like. And a few choices here and there (like the civil war in Skyrim). I haven't played the Fallout games yet, but I hope to get some time into F3 before F4 comes along. I don't imagine the overall storytelling style to be tremendously different between the two franchises, even though elements of the gameplay are drastically different.
