Kylo Ren Saber hollow hilt for electronics

Ok so I have been modding the design for easy assembly. I changed it a bit and now made a coupler that will hold both ends together... Here is a cross section vide with the components inside... I am using a chasis that i designed for a Petit crouton board but will fit most boards. I also will be using a 7.4 v lion battery arangment of 2X18650. The led module is from TCSS and its the V3.

I am still debating on putting a recharge port or not.. if I do it will probably go on the end cap. Still working on the activation switch as I have to make some internal changes to run the wires.

Again this design is optimized for Shapeways printing... the home friendly version will be available shortly. It will be the same design just a bit more printer friendly.

By the way it will not be for dueling, its just costuming and display.

Thanks.

Speaking of, where are you thinking the activation switch is? I'm looking and have some ideas, but definitely interested in what everyone's thoughts are.

my guess is that its suppose to be either this piece:

or on the back side:

I am not sure where I will place mine yet.. the back side is not possible because i have the led holder inside

I might place it on the main body instead.

Holy cow! Now this is good work.

The back does look like a slide and the ridges on the top being some sort of click/pressure hold system to keep the switch in place when activated.

The attention to details from you and JJ Griffin is just outstanding, a real credit to the community.

I uploaded the newer model in shapeways.. I removed the older one since V2 is going to be my base design for all the versions (functional and non functional). I made slight model changes to improve the accuracy too.

Great stuff as always, Guabe.

Great stuff,

few feedbacks :

and maybe the active power blade is more taller than actually... maybe 2 buttons ?

And I see 2 "I-don't-know-what-is-it"

Good continuations.

Superb designing!
How will the side flares be illuminated?

Nevermind...I didn't see there was another page. I need to go to bed.

Again, you are doing a fantastic job!

Thanks for the feedback. The last picture shows where the belt clip is attached. I believe that the body was printed in two halves then casted. The two halves are identical.

in this design they are illuminated by the same led so they wont ignite separetly. I will be using some mylar or reflective material inside the two ports but since they are small and will be white, they should illuminate just fine.

Thanks

I am making another version that can accept Makoto electronics too.

I had not thought it was 2 halves.
but since you said, I agree with you.

Thinking back,
this model of exposure is really ugly with the assembly runs, and resealed holes.

guabe;

Will you do up a parts list for those who want to get the electronics?

I'm wondering which is more cost effective, I don't know the guts of sabers very much and have only done a few MR-FX conversions from TCSS.
