Hey Darth Chasm ! Where does the positronic de-nucleator go? <--- (the thing that looks like a ship's wheel) ;) It's a very neat looking little part, but I don't see it in any of the other photos.

And do tell about your heat treatment!!! Or is it chemical? I like how it peeks out from beneath through the windows you cut out of the chassis!

Haha! Sorry, missed that one. Its the blade plug. I used Jax Brass Blackener lightly with a rag just up to the point of rainbow and before full dark tarnish.

Didn't think it was worth posting but I recently rebuilt one of my earlier hilts that I posted in this thread (was never happy with it) to something more acceptable. In no small part due to some of the custom work seen on this page with TCSS parts, specifically the Revan-esque one seen here.

Pics!

...and I’ve been rebuilding about half of my collection.

Beautiful! Is that a Sherline? I have a Sherline, always considered it too weak for most things, but sometimes it can get the job done.

What are you using for a mill? I have a simple milling attachment for mine, but never used it.

Share your machine attachment knowledge with me!

Also, what is that flexible conduit?! I've been looking for that stuff.

It is a sherline! It’s the 4400 with DRO and I have the 2000 8 direction mill with DRO. I’m still very much a novice so I don’t know if I can help too much. They are definitely light duty machines but do great work with aluminum and free machining brass.

You can can see everything that came with them here. I’ve also picked up additional tooling along the way. Mostly measurement and layout stuff. Oh and 4 jaw chuck which Is great!

the conduit is diy. Coiled jewelry wire :)

Okay, so you've got a separate mill. How much did it set you back?

I think my lathe is also a 4400, but no DRO. Wish I had that, and the quick change tool post!

Is that an indexing head? Did it come with the mill?

I think I really should just break down and get myself a little mill, there's only so much I can do with a drill press.

They came together in a package around $3k. No thats a rotary table. A little different. And yeah, it came with it. You can see all the accessories in that link I posted.

Cool, thanks for that! Now to find $3k....

So I've been lurking on this thread awhile now. I've started working on one saber, but about to start a graflex build. I don't have an actual graflex so I'll be carving up a sink tube. How much flak would I get for using 1 1/4" instead of the usual 1 1/2"? That feels too thick to me.

LOL. Just edited my last post. I'm on new phone, and the keypad sucks. It keeps deleting words and letters when I type. It's really frustrating. Flak is what I said. The purists out there tend crucify makers for not being accurate.

Hey @BDBear ! Look up "SkinnyFlex Lightsaber". It'll look a little off, but the gist of the GRAFLEX is there.

And don't sweat the flak, not here anyway, this is the "Custom Lightsabers" thread afterall.

Looking forward to seeing your project completed!
