Show your custom Lightsabers!

A couple of home made "Twin" Sabers. Made from a few different diameters of tube (aluminium aerial masts etc), the widest being 1.5" and some greeblies. The switch boxes were cut from aluminium billet with a hacksaw. No special tools unfortunately, a bench vice, hand drill, , dremel, files and tap&die set was about all that I had access too. Some parts (the middle section) were saltwater etched using an xbox 360 power supply. The pommels are some motorcycle bar ends - thanks to the idea in this thread.

For saltwater etching I followed ARKM's guide a few years ago and have made a few saber hilts using the method since. It's a great guide. http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?13430-ARKM-s-Saltwater-Etching-Tutorial

For the light source I used a single cree XPE2 Royal Blue in one if the sabers and a Tri-Cree XPE2 blue LED for the other. Both powered with an 18650 battery with a 1ohm resistor and latching switch for the most basic stunt set-up.
I intend to upgrade the single LED to a triple at some point. I only really built these sabers as I recently ordered a Photon Blade and didn't have a blue LED saber around, so this way I could test Royal blue, standard blue, single and triple LEDs with the new blade.

your only up the road from me, your a Yorkshire lad, I’m a Lancashire lad, another question if you don’t mind, where did you get the light tubes from ?

Eh up lad!
There’s not many options for Lightsaber blades for us in the UK, but I get mine from JQsabers (they’re based in Wales). I believe they’re the same as the Vader’s vault blades. I’m loving the Photon Blade with the tri-cree blue.

Eh up lad ! ( nice ) Does tha know I was also drawn to the blue one, stunning colour, I’m nipping down to Maplins over t weekend and have a gander at what they have, you’ve made me want to put a light in and put a blade on it now ya bugger ! May be have a butchers for a blade

This might sound strange, but the blue blade in the photo's above is the single royal blue LED and the green blade is the triple blue LED.

The photon blade is a specially pigmented blade that reacts with blue light to produce an awesome green glow.
The below picture is the same light source, one with a standard blade and the other with the photon blade.

Finally had this machined by Randy at Arm on Fire. He was able to machine not only the hilt, but also 3d print the Anakin AOTC grips as well.

Just wanted to show off my saber I built this years ago based on the Big Yellow Box saber III design. Someone on the A.S.A.P. boards influenced the gold highlighting. The grips are from the AOTC Anakin saber. This is the only picture of it that I have. I sent it to a machinist years ago to have it made from aluminum and he lost the saber.
