Show your custom Lightsabers!

I wish mine were that cool! I love what you did with the grips! Totally stealing that...

And I agree, the minicam might be my favorite, even over the Canon Y.

First saber of the new year!

This is another Minicam conversion, this time using a series of hard drive motors to build out the emitter. This flash was missing parts wehn I got it so the activator box -- a stripped and polished Heliand 2-cell bracket -- is screwed directly into one of the exposed holes with an M5 machine screw. The bulb release was replaced with a bicycle valve adapter topped by a clear glass cabachon. The flash button was removed and replaced with the knob cut off the side of the bracket. Grips are from Todd's Costumes with a TCSS d-ring riveted to the side of the flash body and a strip of lure tape wrapped above the end cap.

This one feels a bit @SethS to me. ;)

The Minicam is probably my favorite current flash to work with. This is my third conversion, and I picked up a fourth as yet untouched.

I like everything but the grips on your new one. The grips look great on your other customs, but these just don't look right, to me.

I'm trying to think of what I'd do instead, though, and other than chucking it up in a lathe and cutting some shallow grooves into the body, I can't think of much else.

I love the hdd emitter!

I finally got my hands on a Peak flash/ After years of coveting what Scott D has done with his, I was reticent to go too crazy. The Peak is definitely subtle. After I added the shinier clamp, I decided the two-toned metal look was the way to go. No grips, but I think it looks good without them.

I like the emitter, other than that, it really just feels like a flash gun with a clamp on it.

I feel like it needs more, less or just different.

I'm definitely going to crack open a hard drive... but for this one I was really trying to keep it simple. I was really inspired by how lean and mean Scott's peak sabers were.

You know the Graflex's tops were kinda as is... ;)

The emitter is the bulb socket from a Canon Y. Roman clamp. Rando clamp card. And the lower band is the clamp band from a King Sol, held in place by two TCSS region screws pretending to be thumbscrews.

This thread has been ignored too long!

I finally got my hands on a DeMornay Bidd. In trying to figure out what to do with it, I decided to steal a PCB card from a DMB clamp on another saber... and in turn decided I didn't like said saber.

I posted this several months back:

http://sethmsherwood.com/pretty/blunt1.jpg

And I decided I REALLY don't like those metal grips. I did that on a bunch of sabers and without a drill press it's just impossible to get them drilled and aligned properly. I drilled out the rivets and took them off, and the holes made it even more clear how off everything was UGH.

Stole the card as planned, and then covered the holes with t-track. MUCH happier with this one now.

Damn I need that shroud!

So this is the first time I've ever posted with regard to custom sabers. I've got 3 different customs in the works (all made from scavenged/camera flash parts), but none are ready to show yet.

However, I just scored this unusual looking flash, and figured I'd show it to you guys. Anyone encountered these before? It's British made, and it's the first one I've ever seen on ebay. I think it could form the basis of a nice saber - provided enough contrasting silver coloured parts can be combined with it.

I currently have 3 half way done, waiting for parts, and another 5 or 6 flashes in the box.

Addiction!

Hey SethS , did that Peak Flash (your post # 1524) have the toggle switch with the ball knob on it sticking out of the flash tube or was that something that you added to it? If you added it... how'd ya get it in there?

Is that 2nd down a Busch? I love that activation button thing on the back!

Yep, it's a Busch alright! This is what's left behind after you remove the ginormous plastic cover for the button. It looks pretty cool; but I'm not sure yet how I'm going to incorporate it into the build...
