Here's my progress on that Abbey flash base saber I have been working on. I built a piece made of metal flat bar that could attach onto the Peak flash and attached some clear door bumbers. They're a lot bigger than the calculator bubble strips but I think they look alright. I'm still working on giving this build some final touches and I may end up taking off the grips.

The bubble strip looks good. If it were me I'd try some templates of the grips with curved ends rather that square, with a similar radius to the bubbles. Occasionally I see hand grips like yours attached without rivet or screws. What glue do you use for that?

@CrazyCraig thanks for the feedback! I actually used 3M double sided tape for those grips.

Heiland flash with an Odyssey 2 circuit inside a Busch clamp fitted onto Heiland rings. Can't decide if the shroud needs to be on there but I'm leaning towards no shroud. This one definitely has some @Scott D inspiration and I know what he would say about the shroud.

Very Vader-y with the shroud but I love the look and color scheme; it's very clean. And it just looks so good with the white and silver board in the clamp.

Anyone ever cut the angled top part of the stubby stepped shroud down to the step? That might be a cool different, but familiar look...

&, MattBud, that Heiland looks A-mazing!!! I like it better with no shroud. It's new, but very familiar.

After starting and stopping two other sabers at the group build with @SethS and @AnubisGuard, this is where I ended up. Heiland with Zeiss shroud. Canon parts and a coaxial cable connector for the emitter. Wrong Kobold d-ring bracket, and some random calc bubbles & PCB w/ another Canon greeblie for good measure. Time to start thinking about grips...

Been feeling energized on sabers after the group build last weekend. Got home from work today and dove back into them. I've had a 2-cell DMB for a while that I didn't really know what to do with. Last night I took a beat up King Sol, gutted it, and brushed it with some scotch-brite. The idea was to make an extension for the DMB, but one that fit it at the top, not the bottom.

Matched the slots with my dremel.

    It worked!

    It's a real beast now.

Maybe too long, even. I'm not sure. I like the Peak clamp on there, though! Definitely still a work in progress, but moving in the right direction.

I also got a little work in on this Sol. Cut-off Heiland shroud, replica bubblestrip, w/ real tan Exactra PCB underneath.

I like the thin Heiland clamps pushed together. Had to notch the bubbles & pcb to get them to sit under that little arm.

And the current work-in progress lineup:

I'm gonna try to finish some of these over the long weekend I think.

Yeah, that Demornay-Budd definitely needs shortening, but otherwise it's killer. I like the Heiland ports showing the Demornay-Budd body through them.

Thanks guys! I wasn't sure about the length. It's definitely #longAF but it's starting to grow on me. I initially just didn't want to alter the DMB bottom until I was committed to the extension I made out of the Sol. Now that I'm confident about that I'll probably chop it down to a more manageable length.
@SethS I knew you'd like that button box. In my head I kept thinking "Steth-style" all the way.

Hey @MattBud ! SHROUD. Super with it, too cylindrical without it.

Hey @veektohr ! I really like the emitter insides of your Heiland/Zeiss/Canon smashup... but that outside and Kobold... I don't like how big and sockety it looks (like a big Craftsman socket got stuck on top). That two-handed De Mornay Budd is a keeper though! Diggin' the extra length!!!

It's funny though, every time I see a De Mornay Budd, I'm reminded of Marty's CALVIN KLEIN incedent with his mom in Back to the Future, like that's clearly Mrs. De Mornay Budd's lightsaber.

I feel yah. I'm hoping the H/Z/C mashup looks more balanced with some grips. Definitely too top-heavy right now. The emitter guts are parts from a Canon bulb socket and a coaxial cable connector painted gunmetal grey. I'm really happy with how it turned out too!

Here are two I built (and reluctantly sold ) from a few years ago. Both were hand cut/filed from various sizes of aluminium pipe, sheet, stock, brass pieces and junk from the greeblies box.

On our little build day I started and stopped work on a couple different sabers until Veektor and Anubis helped me focus. I got a bunch on the line now...

First-- my version of a PT saber.... this is the first time I've assembled a saber with a rod and nuts and washers...

And after that I was super eager to try another rod assembly...

    And one more....

    Thank you!

And actually, the central body of that one is one of those Heiland slave units you traded to me last year.

I knew it would be put to good use.

You just reminded me...I still have some nifty greeblies that need to be mailed to you.
