Show your custom Lightsabers!

I didn't even notice that detail. I kind of agree, it's an odd place for a D ring.

Though, with the minicam, there's not a whole lot of options.

Maybe you could rig something else up for a D ring holder in between the grips, towards the bottom?

I think what I would do is lose the Graflex clamp altogether, mount the Kobold part where the Graflex clamp was, and put a little circuit board in there, to act as the "activator".

I wonder if the mounting bracket already on the minicam can't be retrofitted to be used as some sort of clip or mounting system to attach to another thing on the wearer.

I'll have some pics to share soon too - the rotj/flash saber is curing as we speak. I coated the ring grips with wrinkle paint! Next I'll have to do the emitter and upper neck/windvane some color.

I reckon maybe it could, but if you put it at the bottom, you may sacrifice the grips. Unless you cut the bracket thin enough to fit between them...

The mid-body d-ring works if you hang it emitter down. It's almost like a gunslinger quick-draw feel.

But you guys are right about the knob. I had a better one in, from another flash-- but it wasn't long enough. This one is just too clunky

Just a quick question, since you guys will likely know way better than Google would; what kinds of vintage calculators have bubble strips? I know several pages back somebody mentioned using one from something other than an Exactra 20 and I'd rather like to do the same for my Canonsaber since I always enjoyed the bubble look on the ANH Graflex and Obi-Wan sabers.

Thanks.

Pretty much any old school pre LCD calculator will have bubbles. If you're going custom get any cheapo you can find.

If you want exactly what was used in ANH, it's the Exactra 19 and 20 and whatever TI number it was in the U.K. (Somebody will post it).

Keep in mind the canon clamp is much shorter than a graflex, so you'll end up trimming it down.

Here's a couple I dug out of a box full of other prop stuff and greeblies!

I must've made these fifteen years ago!

I could do something with these if anyone is interested!

I'm also absurdly effing tickled that I found this in that box, as well!

Now I can still build that Holiday Special version, one day...

Thank you, that's a great help. I don't plan on using the exact strip used in ANH, I'm not crazy rich enough to afford a £100+ calculator right now (especially for a custom).

There's plenty of TI-1200 calculators and the like with nine bubble strips out there....

Try an eBay search for "led bubble display", you're bound to find something!

Thanks a lot! You guys are so forthcoming and helpful, I regret lurking for so long, I could've got this done so much sooner. :lol

Awesome, thanks for that link! That may come in handy some day!

Now, I know this is a custom "Lightsaber" thread, but, I recently got myself a Han holster rig, and unfortunately sold my resin droid caller back in 2002.

If I'd not been so poor at the time, I would've and probably should've jumped on the $75 Anovos caller.

Anyway, I didn't, so I remembered I had one of those little Leitz/Leica flashes, dug it out of whatever box it was in, and went to work!

Here's what I ended up with. A "compact droid caller"!

Dagummit, y'all! I just can't call anything done, anymore!

I had to add the coin edge knurling to the top and bottom. Cut up a couple of pill bottle caps for this.

So, it's certainly still a "compact" version of a droid caller, but hey, it fits in the clip on the holster rig, so it's a great placeholder!

Here are some quick shots (sorry for potato quality!) I wrinkle painted the grip section, the neck is brass rustoleum and the emitter is silver rub n buff!
