Bandai release schedule

I forgot t mention we're also getting a 1/72 TIE Striker this month. Would I trade it for a TIE Bomber? Of course. But I'd rather have a Striker now than be three or four years down the road working on Episode IX kits and bemoaning that no one ever put out a Striker kit when Rogue One was in theaters.

Have we seen a comparison between the bandai 1/144 T-65 and the f-toys version yet?

1/2 Scale BB-8 ( 33cm tall ) due for April release, plus who saw the 1/6 Stormtrooper coming? that came out of nowhere. Bandai have allready started creating bigger works of Art for us to enjoy building.

Bandai will build smaller kits, but Imo the 1/48 AT-AT is going to happen (1/48 Snowspeeder & AT-ST). As will other HUGE kits, (especially after Rogue One) like the 1/1700 ( 94cm ) Star Destroyer, a big Blockade Runner & Hammerhead Corvette. A 1/72 Falcon has to happen to go with the 1/72 ships. A big Imperial Shuttle would fly off the shelves, Figures with faces would be great too!

Star Wars is FULL of cool things and Im pretty sure they want to make a LOT of them, like i never thought Bandai would ever make a Droid STAP from the prequels, but there it is!

I would buy all these in a heartbeat:

94cm 1/1700 Star Destroyer
60cm CR90 corvette - Blockade Runner
60cm EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate - Medical Frigate
1/72 Falcon
1/48 AT-AT
Imperial Lambda-class T-4a shuttle - Tydirium
1/12 Lukes Speeder
1/72 B-wing
1/72 TIE Bomber
30cm Death Star
60cm Hammerhead corvette
1/12 Figures with faces like Darth Maul, Jyn Erso, Chirrut Îmwe, Baze Malbus, etc.

Those huge models are complicated and Bandai allready clearly take great pride in making them the best in the world. They take time to get these models super accurate for us to enjoy, we just have to give Bandai time. So far these kits are mind blowingly awesome and they are making them pretty fast too. The futures bright for Star Wars, the films are doing well and im sure Bandai will keep making more.

Thank you Bandai your awesome! :thumbsup

Question: Where does the 1/2 scale BB-8 release in April info come from?

Despite the powers that be saying the ship in ROTS was the same one in ANH, I can't buy it. I don't mind the different paint job or the extra lights -- or even the additional hanger bay -- but the proportions are just too different. Whatever ILM artist was in charge of creating that asset didn't do their homework.

I have good news for you - the ship in ROTS is officially a different ship, a CR70 named Tantive III :). Bail Organa had multiple similar ships according to the databank, and a couple of recent books mention the name directly. Even without those passing references (and recently given name), the Clone Wars TV show depicted the more heavily armed (and red accented) CR90 Tantive IV back in 2010.

According to the behind-the-scenes stuff on Wookiepedia, the distinction was straightened out in 2010 just prior to the Clone Wars appearance, but it sounds like even during Episode III production there was disagreement within different wings of Lucasfilm as to whether they were distinct ships, with the art department intending it to be a different ship from the same factory.

I would also like to see at least a 1/72 Republic Gunship with figures, crew and troops. I know Revell or someone did one, but I want a really good version.

Yes please!

Just imagine the "landing at point Rain" dioramas!

So I hope it comes with several clones, an Ashoka and plo koon

Just a reminder - Bandai is a company based in Japan, primarily focused on the Japanese market. Living space in Japan is tight, so it's in Bandai's best interests to produce smaller kits for their target consumer base. My guess is that the smaller 1/144 scale kits sell better than 1/72 and 1/48 scale kits in Japan for this reason, but I have no evidence to support that.

Think of it this way--Zvezda's Star Destroyer kit, at nearly 2' long, is impressive, but a Japanese modeler can put 10 Bandai kits in that same amount of shelf space.

It's as good of theory as any, but then again they are starting to make big troopers and a big BB-8. Maybe we'll get a big ship one of these days. I suspect the rationale for many of these decisions comes down nothing more than one or two people in positions of power who decide, "I think this would be cool. Do that." Why a big storm trooper? "My kid thought it would be a good idea and wants one." I've seen decisions made this way.

Hi I've been lurking these boards and a few others for over a year, always forgetting to register. I'm affiliated with Bluefin, the company that Bandai uses to distribute the Star Wars products to U.S. retailers. I am not from Bandai Japan itself, but I am in constant communication and reporting with their departments on a daily basis. I am a model enthusiast though my subject material is often not dedicated to firm accuracy, but instead what new creative interpretations that could be inserted into that source material. More or less I'm a big airplane and sci-fi fan.
