What can you paint over monster clay ? to make a mask of it? Alginate?

Hi if I already have a clay head sculpted that i want to make a mask out of what do I do next? Can I just put alginate over monster clay and it will come off okay and then I can put silicone i to the align ate and make a mask? I can't find this step on any tutorials.

If this is something that you are going to slush cast, and it doesn't need to fit your face proportions, alginate will work. If this is a prosthetic that you sculpted to wear, and have it move with your face, then you'll need to use something like fiberglass, or something of that sort, and have it register with your core that you sculpted on.

No. Don't try that. What you're trying to do is a labor intensive task. A fiberglass mold would be best.
