Hello Everyone,
Just finished a build for my daughter to take to Comic Con in Chicago. She's going as Marceline the Vampire Princess and Marceline has to have her Bass! lol
I had a fun time with this build and it was a nice distraction from my HIC build as I wait for parts, so here's a brief description.....
Body = Pine Oval cut with Jig and the neck is two 2x3x1's screwed together and mounted to the "axe".
Strings = Picture hanging wire crimped to eyelets and screwed on.
Pickups = Oval metal brackets with guide holes
Tuning Keys = Screw hooks with washers epoxied on both sides
Paint = Rattle cans with a flat acrylic glaze to reduce it rubbing off on the costume then waxed with pledge.
Knobs = Kitchen chair metal screw on foot pads
Frets = Tamiya hand painted silver
Total cost was about $70.
Here are a few pics and a reference shot of the character with her guitar. I hope you enjoy viewing it as much as I enjoyed building it. I did it over a 5 day period with a total of about 8 hours casual build time. All the parts can be found at Lowes.
Thanks,
Warpcell
