Really? They never did anything for me. I always found it to be a bland design. Just there. Not very interesting. I'm surprised they have such a following.

Proof, though, I suppose, that not everything in Star Wars is for everyone.

I've liked the Royal Guards since ROTJ came out. I don't know how they actually guard the Emperor, other than against regular people. Maybe they are there to create the false impression that the Emperor is a helpless old man. They certainly aren't to fight Jedi!

I spent a while in and after high school learning how to fight encumbered by coats, robes, and cloaks (possibly in part because of these guys ). It is definitely possible to move quickly and fluidly, to work with rather than against the robes. I incorporated a lot of aikido staff form movements. After the Clone Wars, very little in the way of threats would make it anywhere near Palpatine, but they're still as highly trained and competent as, say the President's Marine Guards or the Buckingham Palace Guards.

But yes, just watch ROTS to see how they are against Jedi. I'd argue that's not their bailiwick. That's what Shadow Guards are meant to deal with.

That's cos the first teaser aired thirteen months before the release of TFA.

A rewrite. Focus groups said they'd like Finn better if he was an alien.

I'm going with **** poor effort at drawing a nose, or, he's supposed to be an alien. If it's supposed to be alien, i think the author and artist would have pointed it out in the article, so poor drawing is what i'm going with.

We're joking about the nose right? It's just an artists style thing... he also doesn't have round black eyes.

I can't be sure with the nitpicking on here sometimes. heh.

    A few new pics.

I like that the troopers with Phasma at (what we assume to be) the destruction of Luke's academy look to be OT.

Yeah, I believe this sequence is form...
When we see Poe's X-Wing exploding in the trailer its during an assault on a Resistance ship and this is the boarding party.
