Looking good Rob,I wish I have kind of equipment as yours:thumbsup

Don

Looks awesome
Thanks Niels :)

Thanks Don, Yep looking forward to playing with the armature also Articulating the pilot.
Does anyone know if only one or both pilots were articulated? And was it only the head and one arm?

Very roughly cut and the last spluttering of primer on the pulls, but I'm more or less satisfied with the results.
Might do some very minor adjustments to the plugs but overall I think they work.
Will be going with 1.5mm

Nice Rob the hard stuff is done now will be nice to
watch it build up! If I remember the half round pieces
that go on the sides of the engine are a plastruct part,
I don't think evergreen had them in that size.

Looks great, should be wicked with the planned armature, solid!

Cheers, Will be focusing on the armature next.

Are you talking about these bits?

They almost look like they may have been vac formed as part of the engine shroud?

Very excited to see where you take this!
Hopefully to a finished model :lol

Here are the plastruct half rounds on mine....they are damn near close
if not perfect not sure what they used? Maybe it was these they are
really beefy I had to heat them all in hot water to get then bend!
Few pics to see if they look the part for you? I can look back in my
thread here I think I listed the PS part number if I remember.

Yer mate they look spot on. So just hot water and bend to shape? If you could find the part number that would be excellent.
What material did you use for your pulls?

So...will you include all the mount points, as well? Your pulls are looking the business!
Mount points for the armature? Then yes, I'll be aiming for this. Laser cut perspex with welded aluminium.

I looked through my thread I mentioned using the Plastruct,
but not the part #. I measured mine off the model last night
they are just about 5mm in width. That should help you find
them. I am pretty sure they were the biggest size they had in
half round.

I used HIPS for mine... I went thicker than 1.5mm but that should be
fine with the armature you are going with.

Thanks mate, I'll be focusing on the engines after I get my pulls so handy:)
I was going to use HIPS as well.

Now that my plugs are finalised I'll be aiming to get them done by the coming mid week.
I don't know how many pulls the MDF plugs will last as it wasn't a concern as I was only going to pull a set for my self
but if anyone is interested in building a Cloud Car then let me know before the weekends over as i may as well do some extra.

Rob

If you are worried about the MDF not holding up, form everything
once and fill them with a tooling cement like Ultra Cal-30 then your golden!!!

I would if I was intending to do a lot of pulls but I only wanted a couple of sets for my self and now possibly a few more for other builders.
I did look into it though as an option and found a few heat resistant resins specifically for making plugs one being TASK 18 and also a local product but I don't recall the name.
Don't know may still do it for just the experience of doing it.
I did use the highest grade 32mm MDF I could find and got the two layers laminated in a vacuum bag then sealed the plugs with a high temp sealer so they will be fine to pop out a few.
How long did you plugs last for the cloud car and the A-Wing for that matter?

Rob
