Wow. Someone put a lot of time into this.
But they're right - I see the symmetry now.
I can't help but wonder if Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasden did it intentionally or by accident.
I've always said of "Empire" that it's quite possibly the best movie ever made, even taken out of the context of the "Star Wars" phenomenon.

Lots of real storytelling symmetry in it. Planting and pay-off. But a few of them seem to be a bit contrived, i.e. "M: flying to the rescue". There IMO is no deeper storytelling inside seeing those ships fly, since spaceships are the main means of transportation. Getting from point a to b is what is important, not how.
But then again, I do think that ESB was a very, very well written script and that Irvin Kershner paid attention to the smallest of details. The great symmetries like Skywalkers talking to their masters and Leia is too late are what makes a good and interesting script
