AA/DST phaser upgrades for Star Trek Continues

STC's third episode needed more phasers than usual, so I did three AA/DST repaints, which included sanding down the P1s and adding the groove, hole filling, repainting, adding the screw in the P2 front underside, simulating the poorly filled screw hole toward the rear, and adding brass hardware to the bottom of the handle:

Hmm, didn't get an angle of the top... they have jewels on the P1s. These were intended to be akin to the TOS "midgrades", not meant for closeups.

Also did a quasi-hero which I will post pics of later, and am working on one sort of between that one and the mids.... and a B&W.

Here's one with metal upgrades to nozzle with turning ring, side turn, P1 release and rear fins. Plans are to also upgrade the trigger and ten turn. The P1 is just a sand/fill/repaint; one with metal upgrades in the works.

BBs epoxied inside to add weight. Unfortunately the P1 release is static--I had bought a couple replacement mechanisms years ago, but they fell apart after I had already dremeled out the areas for them on two phasers. P1 is inelegantly held in with tape for now.

Side fins replaced with castings from 23rd Century kit. Too many coats of paint have softened them up, though.
Front window area enlarged but currently no clear piece is in it. Leveled out the dip in the P1 cradle.

Electronics gutted for now. Originally wanted to go all out, and still inside is a vibrator motor for that. Maybe one day.

This one did get used in closer shots. I also supplied an MR. Mine weren't the only phasers there, though!

I also did quick overnight repaints of three other AA/DSTs supplied by others, with no other upgrades to them. Therefore the P1s still had the inaccurate texture but to my surprise with the Xynolyte on, you can't even tell much beyond arm's length!

These will also be used to supplement the phasers of Starship Farragut's next production. They came back a bit worn, not surprisingly, so more repainting is in my future.

There were other phasers but Treadwells were the only ones that mattered; they were great!!

He did an excellent job on the phaser upgrades and it will show in the episode.

What velcro is on which side???? :)

Nice job! I didn't realize you were involved with STC. Now you have me wanting to upgrade my crappy specimen...

Figures! I'm off set for one day, and they go and prominently feature the only unpainted DST phaser in the inventory. :lol
