OLED Displays and programing.

Hi all,

I've recently bought a One Blue Color 0.96" Parallel/SPI/IIC(I2C) OLED (Better than LCD) Display for Arduino/PIC/AVR on ebay to fit onto a replica 2012 lawgiver I'm making from the film dredd. The body is that of a nerf gun and i was wondering if any of you could suggest a program and hardware to use as I'm not very tech savy? I was looking at an arduino pro mini as its small enough to fit in the gun, but don't know if it will do the job so need guidance as I'm eager to learn.

The second issue i have is power as I'm looking for it all to run off 3-4 AA/AAA batteries, is that also possible?
