Nemo's Nautilus original concept

I have always loved Jules Verne 20 000 leagues under the sea and have done many concept sketches of his Nautilus.
So I began making one from scratch.
If anyone has any ideas on a display base ,please let me know .

Nice! I like how it seems more like the spindle form as described in the novel without a lot of extra structures sticking out of it. I can see this thing being mistaken for a giant malicious whale!

Well done!

Here are more shots of the pilothouse as well how it will be lit. I have revised the internal dimensions made everything a bit wider.

Thanks for looking.

I don't have any reference for how accurate this is, because I've never read or seen anything from 20,000 Leagues, but it looks really awesome nonetheless!

Atesta is shooting for the vessel as described in the novel; many people associate the Victorian/Steampunk design of the Disney movie with Captain Nemo's Nautilus. It looks like a sword fish or icthyosaur covered in brass knuckles in the movie, and I mean that in the best possible way. One of my favorite fictional vessels.

I highly recommend that you check out the Disney version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. It still looks amazing and it's a great ride. No one has ever really topped it.

Loving this build, Atesta! This looks like the kind of industrial, military machine Verne might have been shooting for; I'll admit it has been a long time since I read it and I don't think it was a particularly good English edition that I did read. The red lights are menacing.

Thanks again for all the kind words. Jules Verne 20, 000 Leagues Under the Sea, really captured my imagination.
I was looking to create something that could have been built in that time. Still in keeping with a monster theme. I am having a good time building it and have gone thru many variations especially at the design stage.
Still debating on what kind of a stand I will make.

Thanks for looking

Really like your design! building Nautili is my hobby and occasionally do a original design.
As to a stand suggestion, I attach one side of the boat to a vertical piece of plex. The vertical piece is fastened to a base.
The third pic is my latest design.

You would need to join to visit but all that is required is the standard info. If you are a Nautilus fan, it's worth it!

A few more shots of the interior almost done . Just need to put up the paintings and a few more design pieces for the floor and the interior of the windows.
