SyFy's Heroes of Cosplay

I suspect that this is going to make costumers look like idiots by focusing on the sleezy, creepy, half naked, and drama filled folks.

I watched HoC and was mostly unimpressed. Instead of showcasing the kind of talent I see every day on the RPF, the group seemed mediocre and the show overly scripted. It was just good enough for background noise.

Good points, @Sourdoh. Not to get too off topic, but I'll tell you one reality show that has done an excellent job of taking a different approach: Top Shot. In past seasons they have progressively gotten worse and worse about focusing on drama instead of what the show is supposed to be about. I don't know what happened this season, but they did an about face, even changing the way contestants are eliminated (previously it involved a group vote which generated a lot of drama) and are almost solely focusing on the shooting itself and each contestant's skillset. I am so impressed by this and it really makes for a quality show that is worth watching. I would really like to see more shows take this approach.
Great point. Top Shot pulled back from the "reality show" nonsense and focused on the shooting! It's been a very enjoyable season.

I wish Ink Master would get their act together..

I think bad shows like this are better than no shows at all. Your alternative is Pirannahconda.

Enjoy the costumes (and all those boobs :thumbsup) and ignore the nonsense. Of course there's going to be fabricated controversy and the standard trappings of reality TV. Turn the sound off and let your eyes drink it in.

Also, I was a bit disgusted by the Poison Ivy cosplayer's (and they were right, she's no cosplayer, she is a model and a poor one at that) mother. She should have just put her foot down on that costume. What is that girl, 16? Even one of the other contestants pointing out she had clear camel toe going on with that costume. That's a girl who has realized that her sexuality is getting her attention and she's whoring it out as much as possible. The "haters gonna hate" **** shows just how immature she is. Her mom should just pull her from costuming if she's going to be doing that. When she's 18 and doesn't live at home, she can do whatever she want, but that mom needs a reality check, she's the mother, her daughter does not tell her what to do.

I think monika's issue is that she is friends with Yaya and Jessica.
But both Yaya and Jessica get loads of attention for their boobs and revealing costumes. (Especially Jessica.)

So she feels a tad overshadowed by them and it makes her feel like **** and generally ugly to be around them.
And her solution? To dress sexier to try and get attention, in attempts to feel better.

Are people seriously making fun of somebody in this thread for modifying stormtrooper armor? The I can't believe I didn't win attitude I get, the I want to be noticed I get. But judging somebodies costume? Even modifying something still takes effort and a bit of talent. Nerds judging nerds, PATHETIC!

I don't think they mean the stormtrooper armor with that.
I think they mean his poor excuse for Enclave armor, where he literally painted football gear grey.

So mix an adolescent girl with body issues who wants attention, with competitions where she exposes as much of her body as legally possible, a mother that doesn't actually guide or help her child avoid serious pitfalls of life, and a 'coach' who wants her to show as much cleavage as possible.

Yeah, that's going to work out well for her.

T-minus porn shoot in 3 years.

Yeah, unfortunately these kinds of these happen.
I mean, I kind of understand. I feel like **** about my appearance too, so I will sometimes cosplay sexier things because it makes me feel better.
But I mean... I'm not a high schooler.
I'm just short and baby faced, that's all. ; 3;

She needs to get friends her own age instead of hanging around Jnig and Yaya. They really are poor influences and probably will keep making her feel ****ty. She's obviously getting the wrong idea on stuff.
