Re: RANCOR Sculpt
Thanks very much for all of your encouragement. I think my subscription didn't work properly for this thread so my apologies if I've not been responding. Cadeus - I hope you enjoy using the clay, I personally think it is remarkable stuff. I'll post pics of the casting progress (which I am dreading!)
So, here's another update. I scoured the net to find studio model reference pictures and also ripped some footage from 'Classic Creatures' which shows the Rancor in normal light. After compiling all the reference my sculpt did not look tall enough and so I spent ages tearing it to pieces and adding bits. The pictures will show a slight difference and although it doesn't look much further on, a hell of a lot of work has gone in. I'm now at the stage where I can begin refining the sculpture and adding rudimentary details.
^ So here he is with a little more work done to his face.
^ Close up on the face. It is not finished yet but I feel the form is about right. This sculpt really does rely on dramatic lighting!
^ This image shows the height I've added. It isn't a great deal but more akin to the studio model.
^ Texture experiment with the arm
^ and a bit of the hand done.
I'm taking my time with this sculpt - not really in a huge rush with it. Again, if anyone has any criticism please feel free to air your views. It is the reason I post! The tail needs lengthening yet, but overall I'm quite happy with him.
Thanks
Chris
