Anyone big into listening to soundtracks?

Most of the stuff I listen to now-a-days is soundtracks. A few of my favorite are:

The Last Samuraii
The Dark Knight
The Assassination of Jessie James by the Coward Robert Ford
Nightmare Before Christmas
Inception.

I have practically 24-hours' worth of soundtracks... sometimes when I'm with a group of people, I simply say, "Pick a movie, and I'll play the score." Half the time it's modern things like Harry Potter, Transformers, or somesuch memorable theme, but what I'm really proud of are the unreleased (i.e. I had to edit them myself) soundtracks from shows and movies, like The Cape (that one NBC superhero show) or Person of Interest (also a great show)

Collecting soundtracks also gives people a healthy dose of history... did anyone know that Erich Wolfgang Korngold, an Austrian composer, was contacted to come to the U.S. to compose the music for "The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938) and as such he avoided the rise of Nazism? To top it off, the score that he composed won an Academy award, as well as being categorized as one of the greatest scores ever written.

There's so much more to music than a simple rhythm or set of lyrics... as such I'm constantly surprised at how many new soundtracks mankind can create; just when you think you've heard them all, along comes a brand new glorious piece!

The minds and imiginations of John Williams, Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard, Howard Shore, Ramin Djawadi, Lorne Balfe, and all such composers are so... unfathomably marvelous.

I love the Sherlock Holmes movie theme music... Probably more than the movie itself.
Braveheart and Memoires of a Geisha are a couple other good soothing ones.

Just as an aside:

While technically any music featured in a movie is considered to be a soundtrack, there's a difference between a soundtrack and a score.

A soundtrack is generally comprised of lyrical music from a movie/show, whether the songs were written specifically for it, or were preexisting. Examples: "I'm a Believer" from Shrek and "You've Got The Touch" from Transformers.

A score is the instrumental music composed for a film/show. Examples: "The Imperial March" from Star Wars and the theme from The Incredibles.

Actually, if we're being technical, the soundtrack is ALL the audio in a film. Music, voice, sound effects, etc. ;)

The entire 1986 Transformers movie soundtrack is great and the stuff released later by the composer as a revisit to it all is good too.

I agree. To this day, I start to tear up when I hear "Death of Optimus Prime."

The composer's name is Vince DiCola, by the way.

Love my soundtracks! Pretty much anything John Williams, John Powell, James Horner, Alan Silvestri, Jerry Goldsmith, Danny Elfman.

The Bourne series by Powell is phenomenal as well as X-Men Last Stand. Love The Phantom soundtrack (movie sucks), Gattaca soundtrack is emotional, Anapolis and The General's Daughter are also favorites.

Me? Soundtracks? Umm.... Let's see if I can sort this out.

Theses are all the soundtracks that I've officially bought and own. Ones with a * means it was acquired digitally. NO BOOTLEGS HERE!

Then I guess you need to change the album producers minds on this since they are called soundtracks. yes, some of them call them scores, but most are called soundtracks.

Most of them say Music from the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.

And for the Transformer soundtrack lovers....You've got the touch!!!

Anybody know where I could find a copy of the original motion picture soundtrack for the 1985 film: CREATOR? I spent months looking for the soundtrack to The Razor's Edge, for my father's birthday... I finally found it on vinyl! Now he never listens to it... I should have kept it! But I want the soundtrack to Creator. Please help me! :)
