Hi guys

After looking for a new hobby and props for my theater, I decided to combine the two and make some :) As this is my 1'st build, things may not turn out as well as I want and in the time I would like, it least it will keep me out of trouble :cheers

After reading the rules I want to give BIG props to Dung0Beetle and Blaxmyth for the Pep to get me going

After a bit of sanding and filling this is where I am now, still want to fill the inside with more fiberglass on the spots I sanded through

Yeah, sanding does suck....I just wish I could sand enough to make mine weigh less than a large bag of dog food....which is why, after I finish sanding, it's mold making, followed by casting......just to make it lighter. To think I started this to save money. Ha, Ha.:lol

Thanks for the kind words gents, I must say, the sanding and filling and sanding...... Is the part t hate the most, I don't know what it weighs, but I recon I can get away with sub 2 kg's ( which is probably a million pounds :) ) I can't wait to get the primer on, but want to hold off on that till I'm happy with the filling

I know what you mean. It took me about 3 weeks to get mine where I was happy with it. Take your time though, and you will have an awesome bucket. It's looking great so far!

Finally made some progress, used 2mm foam to make the raised detail. Now I know the spray filler ran, I just wanted to get as much of it on to get the foam hardened, on with the sanding as soon as it sets :) Have lots of spots to fill with putty and some edges to round.

Hope that turns out well for you man... Foam was something I used to make my sculpt castable... Looking pretty sweet though man!

Got it sanded again, is suspect that the MS Primer is old or off because it didn't harden the foam,

But the 1st coat of black base did, rock hard now I can sand it smooth and spot putty it

The problem I'm sitting with is am I going for movie accurate, or 1'st day out of the Acadamy and shiny new ?

You can always start with factory new and progress to heavy weathering and battle damaged when you tire of the shiny new. Options are yours....you can have it both ways......just not at the same time.:lol

this look A-MAZING!! I'm looking at having a go at this myself, but as I have little to no experience, I was just wondering how you did the raised trim on the edges?? any help or tips you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I used 2 mm crafters foam, you get it from scrapbook shops and the like, just glue it on and hey presto, raised edges :)

Got the red done today........... and my mind is made up, its too new, it MUST be weathered !!! How say You ?

As far as tips on weathering im no use sorry, just want to say that is a nice piece, very tidy and glossy finish, if only that was what you wanting instead of the weathered look you would be near done.
