Rubies Vader Armor + Shins accuracy?

While waiting for the weather to turn nice, I'm looking over some other parts of the Rubies Vader to see what can be done to them to make them more accurate. I'm wondering, apart from paint, what the main inaccuracies are with the shin and shoulder armor are?

For the armor, is it just the detailing on the bells? I can sand them down and add the ridges to make it more ESB-like and remove the chain, but is that it?

I was going to rip the pleather off the shins and put on straps, but as for the shins themselves, is the main issue just how sharp the details are? Something that can be fixed with some time and sanding?
