I haven't hung out with the 501 guys at a troop in years. Craploads of newer guys I don't know as well. I'm tempted to hit up the Dreamworld event!

Well if you don't see us at SupaNova Gold Coast will be out in force at DW13. Expect over 100 troopers for the weekend! You never know who'll meet.

Hi there! I’m Mike. South central Brissie guy, I specialise in the electronics that go inside props. My largest project to date was a replica Myst book from the Myst video games with a full x86 computer & touchscreen crammed inside, upon which you can actually play the Myst games (all of them).

Hey riumplus have you worked with sound chips. I have a metal blaster prop (see above) that has limited room but have seen others put sound to it

I have, but I'm booked out with projects for almost the entire year, sorry :( Depending on how much functionality you actually need, the easiest solution may be to just go with an Arduino Nano with an attached MP3 player shield. That should fit in the barrel.

MP3 Player add-on for Arduino Nano

Does anyone know where to get a precision waxer in Australia? The kind that jewellers and prop makers use to carv wax - precisely.
I really only need to hire/borrow one for a project
Like the Giles ones, with the variable temp control.
The Giles ones would run on U.S.A 120 V / 60 Hz power.
Welcome to Giles Studio
Thanks

hey guys,
Im Aaron and i live in Melbourne for the time being, but occasionally visit Brisbane for fun. I'm really new in prop making, and have been starting to work on some GoT projects. Anyone coming to the Melb Oz comic con this July?

No. But I am working towards the Brisbane supernova in November. I'll hopefully have an Ironborn set of clothes done. It's been a blast getting it together so far, and its made e very confident in my sewing skills so far. How about you? What's your GoT outfit?

Rue

Hi guys,

two questions -
1. what dates in November is Supernova?
2. does anyone have a pattern for a jacket?

Hey all turtle here, I live on the Gold Coast so not to far from Brisbane and I am just getting into costume design. Have a few ideas on what I want to make. Would be keen to meet up with you all at Brisbane supernova. My company will have a booth there for the weekend so I will be here for sure!

Turtle.

Yeah and my chances of getting the day off are not looking too great right now :(

Cavx, what type of jacket are you after? There are a lot designs, so a little more detail, and I think we could be helpful.

Rue

Hi Rue,

It is the future jacket worn by Marty in 2015. I have the bellows sorted, just need a pattern the actual jacket itself.

Bleh it's bad enough trying to get there anytime on a normal weekend without a crowd, let alone a thousand fanboys running around. Think I'll give it a miss.

If you are referring to the crowds at Dreamworld for this weekend, last year the crowds were no busier than normal and whilst the fanboys were there, I had no issue chatting to the guys about their costumes. If I was not working, I'd be there in a flash :)

Hey guys, I won't make the Dream World thing because I am working, but if anyone wants to catch up later, I am all for that.
