Fire Spray 31 patrol and attack craft from Oovo IV prison

Using some of the last info coming out of Guy's thread that Julien
had posted, I decided I want to make one of these. I am
not setting out to make a accurate "filming mini" in regards
to donor parts, I don't have the money and if I did I wouldn't
spend on it.:lol

I decided to start with the landing skirt first because
of the updated info with it. I will reach those measurements
that Julien spoke about for the skirt. If it has changed I am
going to France I know of a nice X-wing with a yellow canopy
and a SSD I could hold hostage if they have changed!:love
This is going to be a major challenge and a major pain in the ass,
I know that already going into it!:angry But I figure if I can get
the skirts done I can move off of that small miracle and keep
going.

I am using the FM kit to help out, I am not much into
computers as far as helping me figure things out. So I
kind of did the old way? I used some coordinate geometry
to figure this out, as far as the bottom profiles for the skirts.
I remember drawing a airplane out in art class like that as a
child so I thought "can it be any different for a space ship?":lol

So I traced around the FM kit as you can see in the pic
(rear skirt) and broke that down into about 31 stations?
Then I did the same on the larger version the length is under
335mm so i will have some room when i form it. Then it's just
a matter of using the digital calipers measuring each station
off the small one and scaling it up......wich I think was around 2.30?

Here it is in paper.....

The front was made the same way, I traced around the
templates and transferred the shapes over to styrene,
It's pretty thick stuff just a hair under 4mm.

Then it was cut as close as possible and save the rest
for the dremel....

And here they are in plastic now it's time to figure out
the keels' for each skirt.

Re: Slave-1

Awesome Michael ! If someone can build it, that's you !!

I have hard time figuring the shape of the cross sections, I really wat to build one someday but they bugg me. :(

Too bad I have this Entex Porsche ready to be cut in pieces... :facepalm

Re: Slave-1

Hey guys thanks for the support I will probably not
get this thing perfect i am sure of that! J-man I know
what you mean it does fry your brain a bit.:lol Guy let
me know when you get into town!

Re: Slave-1

Working on the center keel of the rear skirt, I cut the FM
part right down the center to help figure it out.

To figure out the first cross section i cut the FM kit again then
used the kit as a template to mark out the shape you see on the
right. I split it into 10 different sections and took measurements
and transferred them over to the larger one on the left.

Thanks Naz!!:thumbsup
I can hold that kit in my hand, it's the best tool i got
right now so I am using it.:lol

Here is the first station in place that I left off
on last post.

If your a fan of the FM kit don't watch this part I am
chopping it up to get cross section curvatures. :lol

Scaling up this cross section the same way......

If I remember correctly from Guy's thread, this section
in the picture below is formed out on the original pulls.
I am not making my buck like that, I am going past that
it will have to be marked out and cut after forming. It
makes it easier to use a thicker plastic when there is
less transition to deal with. I do have the big drop on
the front of the buck, never a great thing when your
forming stuff at home with thick plastic. I am thinking
about adding to the buck so there is a gentle curve
to the platen at the front, I checked I have enough
room on the forming table to do it.

Re: Slave-1

Knowing your food pics, and your tastes, I gotta say that the Jerk Seasoning bottles are PERFECT, repurposed and lurking in the background.

If your not going to make your own Walkerswood is pretty good
jerk seasoning......:lol:thumbsup

I counter sunk some holes, and used some dry wall
screws to act as rebar,to hold the ultracal 30 in
place. If not and it flexed the different areas would
probably fall right out.

Have a low spot where the pencil out line is, and some filling
to do of small pin holes and nicks.
