my Ghostbusters props

Yep, that's why I was intrigued by it, but I can't seem to locate any info on it.

~~~
Another new acquisition.
No, I don't mean the cassette tape.
On the Spook Central website, I read a fascinating article on the 'stock footage' which Sony offered from the two Ghostbusters shoots.
In one of the clips shot for the 'theatre ghost' scene, after the extras run out of frame but before they called 'cut', there was a quick glimpse of the three 'coming attractions' posters in the window behind them.
Not surprisingly, two of them were produced by Ivan Reitman.
I got really obsessed with these, and thought, "Dare I?"
Sigh. I dared.
I also went ahead and got Cannibal Girls, which was produced and directed by Reitman, and is the 'Now Playing' feature in this sequence of the film.
Pretty sure it was also used as set dressing, although from the angle it was shot, it's hard to make out unless you stretch the image.
Don't worry, they're all reproductions. I got them all from a single source, too, so I saved on shipping.
I even made a little diorama for the Mattel 'Theatre Ghost' action figure pack-in.
Right after I took that image today, I posted it on a FB page for which I was recently made admin (Cross the Streams: Ghostbusters podcast) and within minutes it got a Like from Michael C. Gross, one of the producers of both Ghostbusters movies. That made my whole day.
Thanks! Hey, I'll be in your city this Saturday for the St. Patrick's Day parade. I'll be wearing my black flightsuit as seen in the Ramis RIP pic above. If you're there, be sure to say hi!
Had a fun day at the St. Patrick's Day parade in Huntsville on Saturday.
Three of us wore black as a tribute to Harold Ramis. At the last minute, my somber flightsuit choice became doubly meaningful for me personally. Via a post on Facebook by Maurice LaMarche (the voice of Egon on the RGB/EGB cartoons), I learned that my longtime Ghostbusters penpal Doreen Mulman had passed away the night before. She was co-webmistress of the now-archived GB Fan Forum site, and a contributor on GBFans as BusterBabe.
So I did the mile-and-a-half walk wearing my full 35 lb. pack, rather stupidly on an empty stomach. I remember turning backwards to film my youngest during a stretch that's downhill, and had a sudden woozy feeling. Imagining how bad it would be to trip back-first wearing a metal and fiberglass pack, I faced front after that.
At one point in the uphill portion, we began to pass a guy from a group ahead of us, who was pushing his boot-cast-wearing buddy in a three-wheeled pedal-operated contraption and seemed to have lost all his momentum. I reacted as I would have at any other time, and helped him push it over the hump. I was definitely envious of the two Ronnies (the other two guys in black suits seen above) after that, because their packs were only about 15 lbs. each.
And David's speaker-backpack was a big hit, especially with the Huntsville Havocs wolf mascots, Chaos and Rukus... as seen in this impromptu moment from the pre-parade staging. (May be blocked in some countries due to third party content.)
I edited the rest of my footage down into this 8 minute reel of highlights.
Back to replicating props...
I got a modern but very similar blue hardhat for the Con Ed guys in GB1 and GB2. The paper label is just a test for font and size. I plan to have it remade in vinyl.
The only thing I don't like is the harness with its giant black knob on the back for adjustments.
Big thanks to phish4dinner for ID'ing the name of the meter to search for, back in this thread:
That super-accurate one of his is a thing of real beauty, but for $40 shipped I'm pretty tickled with mine.
I had already written one of these into a fan-film script I'm developing, so that's another item to cross off my own personal prop list.
Just arrived. I finally got a good Venkman hardhat. I still have to remove the existing decal and add the Bozo and other label.
POST-SCRIPT
We were under a tornado threat Monday afternoon. My wife wondered if the boys should put on their long-ago-outgrown bicycle helmets. This inspired me to get some real-world use out of my movie-prop investments. All four of us donned hardhats. Here's a pic of my sons in the tub under blankets and pillows, wearing the two sturdiest hardhats in the collection.
Well, a big thank-you is in order for DB537, a fellow RPFer *and* a fellow Alabamian, who not only gave me some great info on the likeliest font for the Con Edison logo, but went the extra mile of drawing it as a vector file so the proprietor at Lewis Signs and Decals here in town could cut these for me. Plus, I was only expecting a couple of them, but the guy did a whole batch, all for just $5.
Thanks :) Now that you have made me aware of that, I might have to hold on to this one that was just lying around in the workshop. I am sure I have another, older version with the yellow display as well.
