Hi Alex,
I've seen you over at the gbfans forum as well. I've really enjoyed this post here. Great getting to know more about you and your props. Continued success with collecting and keep busting. Darthbuster

Thanks for the kind words!

I picked up a new 'prop' recently...

It's not 100% accurate to the film, unfortunately.

Plus, I was surprised how small it was. It's less than 3.5" tall. It must be sitting on top of something to be higher than that styrofoam coffee cup with the pencils.

So... any ideas what the frog toy is?

New acquisition...

Monitor 4 Radiation Detector.

I was about to bite the bullet and pay a big chunk of change for this, because I can never ever find them up for sale, and then two more showed up.

The one I bought was about half what the first one was, so I was very glad that I waited.

Since the light flashes randomly, it was very tricky to get a shot of it while lit. I set the camera on continuous shooting and took about 200 photos to get three where the light was on.

It looked a bit too grey at first glance, but when I checked the reference pics, it's a good match.

Which reminds me of a possible continuity error that I noticed a few weeks back...

In the wide shot (top), it looks like Egon is holding his Monitor 4 radiation detector. (Easier to tell in motion than in a still like this.)

But in the closeup (bottom), it switches to the Realistic sound level meter.

Interestingly, Dan Aykroyd can be seen with both pieces of equipment in a production still taken during the 'Ghost Jogger' scene.

A group shot of some GB2 props. That's the leather case for the Monitor 4 at lower right.

My third Minirad is on the right. Much better condition than the one in the middle. I'll probably sell the middle one, but the one on the left is an interesting variation from the other two. The glow-in-the-dark areas of the dial are larger, and its needle does not glow, unlike the others.

Bought another Beckman pH meter to cannibalize for some missing parts on my first. Still not 100% accurate to the film, but getting closer.

One of my newest prop recreations... had to buy two vintage phones and combine their parts.

Glad you liked it, Gary.

It's the first GB-related video project my wife has agreed to assist with, and wouldn't you know it's been the most popular one by a landslide?

Most of the views and shares are on the version on Facebook, which is identical to the YouTube one linked here. In just a couple of days, it was viewed 4500 times and got 85 shares.

She's getting a big kick out of how well-received this one was.

~~~
My buddy Pete in Wisconsin sent me some phone labels that he typed on his Dad's antique office typewriter from the 70's.
So now my 6-line and 20-line Janine phones have matching labels.
A couple of weeks ago, my youngest went with me to a local event called the Geek Gathering.
As usual, he wanted to wear my pack, so I let him wear it for about the first forty-five minutes until he tired.
When I helped him take it off, I noticed the vertical bar of the ALICE frame was 'flexing' around the upper bolt. I decided not to wear it myself, and just put it in a chair for the rest of the day.
With Hallowe'en fast approaching, last Saturday I thought I'd investigate and make some minor repairs to problem areas.
Once the motherboard was separated from the ALICE frame, I realized it was only the giant washer I'd added that was holding that vertical bar together.
10678492_657509964362570_1792851753385208800_n.jpg
As I disassembled it I discovered, with a sinking sensation in the pit of my stomach, it was cracked completely through.
10173525_657509974362569_5585156801901773300_n.jpg
Ironically, this was the last component of my first LC-2 ALICE frame left on my pack. I'd already replaced the shoulder straps, waist strap, and kidney pad with more movie-accurate LC-1 parts.
I immediately got on eBay and searched for a replacement frame. One seller had a pretty cheap one with a buy it now price. The photo showed an olive drab LC-2, just like my first one. I figured that was fine, I would simply strip it and paint it black, just like I'd done the first one.
Today, this happened...
