Ezio Brotherhood Robes

My costume is based on Ezio's 3D model and artwork from Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

This is the first costume I ever made. I never so much as sewed a button before making this. When I played AC2, I was inspired to make a costume based on Ezio. After seeing the trailer for Brotherhood, I knew which costume I wanted to make. From there, learned from videos and came up with my own methods to create this.

There isn't a single part of this costume I'm not proud of. I was able to come up with a nearly perfect pattern from learning 3DS max, manipulating the 3D model and texture files. Through trial and error of resizing and reshaping the pattern to get the correct fit, I was able to perfect nearly every aspect of the costume. I am particularly proud of the hood and getting the shape just right as well as the materials, which are made from snow white leather and red deerskin suede. It's been a long ride from 2011, facing the hurdles of being a college student, being unable to afford the materials I needed to create this costume, and needing to lose 35 lbs to look the part, but I finally did it. I hope you all enjoy!

I'll start with a pictures of Jesse Rath (Frederico Auditore/Ezio's elder brother), myself and an Ezio from AC2 at Dragon Con 2015.

Progress pictures:

The outfit is made out of snow white leather. The leg flaps are red suede leather.

I used contact cement to glue the leather strips on these leg flaps.

Re: Ezio Brotherhood Cosplay - Going for 100% Accuracy W.I.P.

Nice job. I personally don't think of leather as 100% accuracy though, leather won't flow and bunch like Ezio's. Can't wait to see the end product though!

Re: Ezio Brotherhood Cosplay - Going for 100% Accuracy W.I.P.

I agree that leather isn't the right choice. I think it's more likely a wool gabardine. You're doing a good job so far, though.

Re: Ezio Brotherhood Cosplay - Going for 100% Accuracy W.I.P.

Leather or not, that looks very well. the only thing i would be worried about with leather is that it may be kinda stiff and not have that flow look to it like Ezio's. But it still looks great so far!

Re: Ezio Brotherhood Cosplay - Going for 100% Accuracy W.I.P.

Thanks, all! It's definitely not leather and yes, is likely wool gabardine in the game's trailer, but from what I've seen in the high resolution art work and the game model itself, it looks like deerskin or sheepskin leather. I was actually having an internal debate on which direction to go, but being an OCD level perfectionist, I went with snow white sheepskin.

-Edit: Wow, that first reference picture size didn't turn out how I wanted it. Is there any way to shrink the image for the thread, but still allow for it to be viewed in full size via "Right Click + View Image"? The picture is enormous, but allows you to see the material in high detail.

Re: Ezio Brotherhood Cosplay - Going for 100% Accuracy W.I.P.

Y'know something, i just went in my room and looked at my Ezio figures from AC brotherhood.... on the figures, it does look like a soft leather, but in other pictures, it doesn't..... after looking at the figures, i think your on a path to practically 100% accuracy.

Re: Ezio Brotherhood Cosplay - Going for 100% Accuracy W.I.P.

In those pictures it definitely does look like leather. Lambskin is the only one I could see draping correctly though, everything else would have too much body. Even deerskin.

Re: Ezio Brotherhood Cosplay - Going for 100% Accuracy W.I.P.

I'm debating what kind of material I should use for the ruffles on Ezio's collar. I'm thinking wool but I'm not absolutely sure. What do you all think?

Re: Ezio Brotherhood Cosplay - Going for 100% Accuracy W.I.P.

Just a quick update.

I got my pauldron in! Credit for the pauldron goes to Fevereon. Thanks, Fev!

*Drools* Are you at liberty to share the price of the pauldron? :O
Your costume is looking great so far, especially the sleeve!

Re: Ezio Brotherhood Cosplay - Going for 100% Accuracy W.I.P.

Thank you! I'm not at liberty to share the pauldron price. You'd have to ask Fev.

Waiting for my hide to come in. In the meantime, here's my cape mockup.

Re: Ezio Brotherhood Cosplay - Going for 100% Accuracy W.I.P.

Three days of hand-sewing for the first time and I have my ruffles made. Now to figure out how to sew it all down to the leather collar.

But before that I have to figure out how to make a button hole and acid-etch the Assassin logo on the button.

Wow you are really going all out on this one! I am very impressed at your attention to the details. Looking forward to watching this :)

Looks amazing so far i'll be watching this thread closely :D Requiescant in pace Ezio :(

Re: Ezio Brotherhood Cosplay - Going for 100% Accuracy W.I.P.

How in god's name did you manage those beautiful ruffles?
The material itself was something I found in the bridal section at Joann Fabrics. It looks exactly like the ruffles on Ezio's cuffs and collar. It was very tedious, plus it was the first time I'd ever sewn by hand. I actually had to redo one because the thread kept popping out and another because the ruffles weren't aligned perfectly.

Thanks! I have the leather cape cut out (I got super lucky and found a white lambskin hide that was just big enough). I'll post pictures once I can sew it to a red suede deerskin or lambskin hide.

Thanks, man!

Another update. I have the rest of my white sheepskin/lambskin ordered, but it's going to be a couple of weeks before I get it. For now I'm going to try to acid etch the Assassin Emblem in my silver button, make the sleeve cuffs, and assemble the undershirt.

Re: Ezio Brotherhood Cosplay - Going for 100% Accuracy W.I.P.

I always wondered if Fev would finish her brotherhood build, AND what happened to the spaulder... nice to see it will be among similar work :love
