Hey guys, I've been lurking this board for a while now and finally decided to make something.
I've made a few mistakes already but here is my 3 hrs of work so far.

I should have papered the helmet and blade in two parts, But I plan to fiberglass the outside form and cut it apart so I can make two seperate and sturdy pieces.

I still have to make the helmet shroud and mask, This is my very very first attempt at making anything like this or using paper mache.
However I do autobody and paint so I'm good with fiberglass and body
filler.
Any tips on what to look out for are taken with great appreciation.

By the way, I'm Chad.

I need to cut the blades off and move them up a bit, I also made the blades too big.. but I'm not going for an exact replica either.

Its not perfectly to scale, I need to add a little more to the bottom.. My problem is that now the blades are getting heavy with the more material I add. Any suggestions? I want this to be durable, I have limited knowledge of prop building so I'm still learning the do's and don'ts

Could use some tips now, should I cover the outside of these with aluminum foil and
make fiberglass casts of these? or just glass and rondo them?

Re: New guy with Shredder in the making.

Think I'm gonna re do the blades.. I'll be glassing today so I hope someone can jump in with a tip or two for me. I plan on spray gluing fiberglass matting to the duct/duck tape and just trying to make what I have solid.

Re: New guy with Shredder in the making.

Very nice! Looks like you are going to make the first movie's Shredder. I was hoping you would go for the 80's cartoon :(
Still I look forward to seeing your progress.

The movie helmet is awesome. I would love to see someone replicate the wicker part of the helmet.

I am, again its not 100% to scale or movie quality or anything.. but I found a
material I think might mimic the wicker for cheap. I should have it wrapped today.

someone on ebay offers a very nice cartoon replica helmet.

Meh, pattern didn't come out perfect... The texture is good but I jacked it up a little.

Its good enough for now.
