Back To The Future 2015 Set (CG Model)

If this helps, there is a very nice picture of that Blast from the past sign in high res just here : http://cs323424.vk.me/v323424129/63b3/V7gyvT8PYGw.jpg

Not bad! Really great pics. I didn't know most of them. Thanks for posting. Will be a great help for making my BFTP sign. :)

The following picture makes me wondering, if the size of the BFTP store is actually 17' 8". It's very small to see, but it looks like 16' 3". Could this be possible?

Given the low res of the image, there's a fair margin of error for measuring (and reading!), and I can also tell you from working with these old BTTF blueprints that they're not particularly accurate a lot of the time anyway, so they're not reliable as a *sole* source of deriving information (case and point, the windows on the second floor are spaced completely wrong to the actual building).
Both 18'3 and 18'5 could be within an acceptable margin of error compared to the height measurement of 4', although 18'3 looks like more of a stretch if we assume the blueprint aspect is correct, so I'd be more inclined to go with 18'5 myself. That would indeed put the building at around 17'8. The res of this image is so crummy it sorta looks like the number could even be an "8". Much less likely than a 3 or 5, but that would put the building at 18'. Given that the original building wasn't built with two stores in mind, maybe that's wishful thinking to go with the "neater" round number of 18'.
I was mid process of redoing that entire building, since my initial scaling for the building was ever so slightly off (the tiniest difference such as this propagates and compounds into larger margins of error the further you branch out from that), so when I have time to get back to it, I'll reevaluate that and see if I can match it up to other sources and confirm one way or another. :)
I'm being a perfectionist on this project, so if my current building is wrong, I will fix it! It's nice to have someone else around as dedicated to accuracy.

Some excellent photos in there I had never seen before, and that Blast From the Past photo is worlds better than anything else I'd had to work from. Thanks a lot!

I finally have time to work on this again!
I decided to rebuild the entire interior of the Cafe '80s, this time building everything relative to the checkerboard floor pattern to make sure it's all to perfect scale (at least relatively speaking). Coming along very nicely so far.
Then I'll rebuild the exterior to match, and with any luck there won't be any major problems. Then I can see if Roland was right about the size of the Blast From The Past store. :thumbsup

Thanks again Patrick!
I recognized where the first pic goes right away, as I've been staring at screencaps all day. I was looking at all of the wall stuff and knew I'd have to call on help to track it all down, since a lot of it is either a bit before my time, or areas I have no knowledge in, especially the sport stuff. I can also see where the other two pics go right near it too. :)
I've also tracked down the original Reagan dancing pic that is behind the bar, although it looks like I'll have to photoshop it to add the American flag dress.

I don't know if you're familiar with the online virtual world called Second Life. I remember some years back there was a recreation of Hill Valley 2015 in SL.

Album with more pics

The build tools in SL were a lot more limiting than full CG rendering but I thought it was a pretty good effort.

I'm not familiar with Second Life, but I'm certainly familiar with that particular recreation of the scene. When I first started this project, I looked into what other attempts were out there, and that was definitely the best (and the only complete one?) I saw.
It's not particularly accurate once you're as familiar with the details as I am, but to have finished the whole town square to that level of quality is still impressive, and I can't criticize since I'm nowhere near that level of completion yet!

Yep, that's the 7-11 store underneath the Texaco building. You barely see it if at all in the movie, but there's a good tour video on Youtube I found that shows it in pretty decent detail, and that's along the very back wall.

Would you be willing to share the link? I'd love to see the video! :D

Sorry, nothing new on this recently. I've been busy with 3D animation projects this year, but I still want to get this done in time for the 2015 date!
