Scratch Built Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1 FINISHED.

Re: Scratch Built Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1

Afternoon Folks,

Well, Vacation is posponed for a night due to things out of our control.

So lets do the usual blow by blow update.

Thanks for the kind works everyone.

Let's get on with it and see how we got to the video.

Just decided to do what flowed with the stuff i had already done.
Masked everything up, oversray at this stage would be very bad indeed.

Picture%2520319.jpg

Picture%2520320.jpg

Wanted some colour on the little wings on the top and on the central tail section

Picture%2520322.jpg

Picture%2520321.jpg

Then hairspray and course kosher salt

Picture%2520325.jpg

Picture%2520324.jpg

Then a layer of matt white

Picture%2520326.jpg

Picture%2520327.jpg

Picture%2520328.jpg

Then the same decanted camel yellow as was used on the other details.

Picture%2520332.jpg

Picture%2520330.jpg

Then i masked off the center of the stripes, added a different pattern on the central wing and rear wing just to add interest for those areas and hit it with the brilliant blue

Picture%2520333.jpg

Picture%2520334.jpg

Picture%2520335.jpg

Then it was off with the masking and see what we got

Picture%2520336.jpg

I then attacked the salty stripes with my sharpened chop stick and stiff brush and water

And this is what i was left with

Picture%2520353.jpg

Picture%2520349.jpg

Picture%2520341.jpg

Picture%2520342.jpg

I'm going to try and get a layer of future on it before i go on vacation tomorrow at 3pm then it will have until Sunday to dry up properly

So until Sunday

Take care

Re: Scratch Built Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1

Is your missus not wondering why all the kleenex is going missing every time you disappear into your room?? Stunning build-really appreciate all the graphic updates and details-have you thought where its gonna be displayed when it's finished??

Re: Scratch Built Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1

I wanted to warn you about the Future - it can run and drip. Go easy on the coat.

Re: Scratch Built Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1

Fantastic build !... youre doing a really beautiful job on this :) ... I am going to have to rip off some techniques now though ! :p

Re: Scratch Built Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1

Evenin Folks,

Thanks for the positive words friends, wieght not sure but its friggin heavy and really difficult to change from the verticle set up to the horizontal one.

Your wish is my comand MikeJ. :D

Been back from holiday for a week now and this is where I'm at......

I had sprayed a very tentative layer of Future, I was worried it would mess with my Alclad paint ?
And it did a bit but i think i can fudge it into weathering.

So..........

First a very thin black pastel wash over the top of the wings

Picture%2520358.jpg

Picture%2520359.jpg

Then i got a new piece of conduit tubing so i could mount the ship in a verticle position...

Picture%2520362.jpg

Easier to work on and everything could flow in the right direction

Removed the masking tape from the underside vector nozzles

Picture%2520364.jpg

Applied the vodka pour spout thruster vector nozzels painted matt black

Picture%2520365.jpg

The underside after the wash is removed

Picture%2520366.jpg

Picture%2520367.jpg

Added another layer of black pastel wash to the engine actuators

Picture%2520368.jpg

Then i just worked on the details on the upper wing

Picture%2520372.jpg

Picture%2520373.jpg

Picture%2520374.jpg

Then i added AK engine oil and streaking grime to the back flap actuators

Picture%2520376.jpg

Then added oil weathering to the front section

Picture%2520378.jpg

And the wing tops and details

Picture%2520380.jpg

Picture%2520381.jpg

Picture%2520382.jpg

Thats the story so far

Stay tuned kids

I told you i wasn't smart

Solutions, anyone, anyone?

Re: Scratch Built Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1

Uh-oh!

If the wash was water based, try dish soap and a rag, or maybe lighter fluid (which would also shift a spirit-based wash)- but be very cautious!

Good luck!

Re: Scratch Built Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1

Any updates, Tony? Did you take the wash off? Are you putting the decals down? Do you need any advice? We're here for you 24/7!

Re: Scratch Built Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1

Morning Everyone

I want to Thank you for commenting about my stupidity and offering you wise words

At the moment I seem to do a lot of work with intense focus and,
"POW" it's five hours later and the thing just looks dirtier, sometimes it is difficult to know what I've done, and conversly, when to stop the process.

I made the ship pretty filthy because, like with the colour scheme, I figure that this is my ship, and as I am the most terrible person at keeping stuff clean and well maintained, so if this thing WAS mine it would look this bad, if not worse. :D

Well, what's been doin lately then my peeps.

So, I'm not too bright, as I've pointed out, and as my top man Mike.J pointed out, I totally forgot to apply my decals :facepalm

Nice one professor. :wacko

I wanted just a few decals in key spots.

Mike.J had very kindly sent me a few of his spare decals and some brand new ones still in the packet. MikeJ, official Top Bloke Award :cool , Thanks again mate.

I had a few of my own lying around so, here's what I did..........,

Picture%2520384.jpg

Picture%2520385.jpg

Picture%2520386.jpg

Added a couple to my HUD, anyone recognise the top one?

Picture%2520388.jpg

I wanted to add some identification numbers to the underside. I didn't have anything the right size so I made my own.
I sketched out my numbers onto two strips of masking tape, then cut them out with a scalpel.
The number is a shout-out to my Mom, it's her date of birth

Picture%2520390.jpg

I then applied them to the underside of the wings with a close framework to create the compact look i wanted.

Picture%2520391.jpg

Picture%2520392.jpg

I AB'ed them with a light misting with matt black, heavier at the front, fading slightly towards the back.

Picture%2520406.jpg

Picture%2520405.jpg

I cut some of the donor decals to create some matching front wingtop identification numbers, added various others around the cockpit frame.

Picture%2520394.jpg

Picture%2520396.jpg

Picture%2520400.jpg

Picture%2520402.jpg

Next came the underside of the main body and wings with AK products.

Streaking grime and engine oil, like i said very, very dirty.

Picture%2520417.jpg

Picture%2520420.jpg

Picture%2520421.jpg

Picture%2520424.jpg

Then I moved on to the engine fairings, didn't get many pictures because I was in the "zone" and its the same thing over and over, building the layers but here's what I ended up with.

Picture%2520425.jpg

Picture%2520426.jpg

Picture%2520428.jpg

Picture%2520429.jpg

And that's the story so far.

Well, I'm off to England for a quick visit on Friday for a week

So, the MK.1 will be on hold for a week,
so I will see you soon my friends.

Take care everyone
