I had a long talk about this with Decathlon sales manager last month. TG-100 are renamed Fitness Mat Essential, yellow and blue are no more available, the plastic package is shorter, the backside is now a mesh pattern instead of stipes, the foam is a little bit stronger, and it comes from another factory. But overall it's the same, and red and black are not about to be discontinued for a while.
    [...]
It's all the same thing. The new foam makes V-cuts on the innerside easier because of its new pattern.
    Great news, thanks JF.

Be dvised you can't draw anything onto black mats (had to borrow from my daughter her magic invisible sharpie, with UV led in the cap)...

    Prefer the red ones.

    Hello everyone

Everybody's projects are coming out great

I'm having a few issues with my latest... Hopefully there someone that could possibly give me some pointers

I have a model that I wanted to edit within Pep Designer

The edges and lines. I guess are too complex for unfolding

As you can see in the picture attached, they are complete mass

Is there a way to make the model less complicated within the designer?

I would like to print these out for foam

    Look at the picture

Thanks for the tip JF. The UK website stocks the red/pink ones and they also sell them through Amazon so I'll order those ones.

Chris, if you have a link to the file in PDO format I don't mind having a look over it to see if it can be made more suitable for foam with some custom unfolding, I don't have the unfolding skills of JF but I'm getting better.

In designer, select set edge color (the little box that has three different colored pens in it). From there, you can adjust the slider that determines your polygon definition. 180 degrees will create a fold at every edge of the faces, you can slide that down to about 160 and it should clean up a lot of the extra pieces. AT 160 degrees, the foam can still maintain these 3 dimensional bends that would be impossible with paper.

I've used Sharpies on black mats, they aren't truly black, so i've not had any problem seeing my lines

My cut & glue finish is very poor but is enough for my 3 year son. He's so happy with his new ironman helmet.

I need more practice with hot gun. I'm thinking about my next project, maybe Loki's helmet... any suggestions for a newbie?

    Thanks from Spain JFCustom!!!

Anything 2D you can do without a program. You can enlarge an image you see and use that as a template or just draw one. My son asked me for one and I just drew it on the foam. If you are using your leftover you have plenty of trial material to work with.

Nothing planned. Unless you have a 3d model to provide ?

I'm right now transfering on ArmorAsylum's youtube channel the 3 hours long making-of video of this helmet :

The upload takes forever, I'll post the link tomorrow.

Meanwhile, watch the third and last part of Durkness's Deathstroke helmet 'howto' :

JFC: your build is amazing and is likely the cleanest foam build that I have seen. Does the type of mat that you are using hold paint well? Does it require a sealing process prior to paint? There are many types of foam sheet an not hold paint equally. Your thoughts?

Next question to everyone: has anyone tried contact cement over the hot glue? Specifically, Barge cement? This method would appear to allow the builder to allow two glued sides to dry. Then, the mating process is done without the need to worry about the glue cooling, or the thickness of the hot glue joint.
